Hey I have a question is there anyway you can scan IE since I cant seem to downloading anything from Microsofts website(also I cant download anything while I use firefox its every browser I use), I tried downloading for example IE7, and service pack 4 for another OS for my laptop and I still cant download anything whenever I try to download something it says server down. Also I can download microsoft updates when you go to the Windows update thing but I'm unable to download like other stuff.

OK, some spacing and thought would help enormously in this post.

what do you mean by scan IE? You can use Hijack This to see the BHO's and whatnot that are associated with IE.

Now, as far as downloading from Microsoft's website, that's another matter entirely. For windows updates, there is a activeX client that accesses that information. So, I'm assuming you're talking about vanilla downloads from Microsoft's site.

I personally just accessed that site, and am grabbing IE 7 RC1 at like 800k, so I don't think they're currently having downtime for maintnence or anything. Give me more information.

did not knwo what I meant i messed up I meant is there a way I can check and see WTH is the problem, or how to fix it. Since I told my cousin last night to download this

http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/do … p4Eng.mspx

click on the SP4 Express Installation on the left hand side and I cant download I get an error

this is what it says if u cant see:

Server not found

Firefox can't find the server at download.microsoft.com.
    *   Check the address for typing errors such as
          ww.example.com instead of
          www.example.com

    *   If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
          connection.

    *   If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

I told my cousin and he was able to downlaod that and I was not for some reason.

Hmm... Seeing as you can browse, it's probably NOT a hijack.... Otherwise your description sounds a bit like a hijack is running on your system.

A hijack is more or less a sort of malware or virus attack. Some AV/spyware scanners gets rid of it. Usually, what it does it that it redirects ALL your web searches, and anything you type to go to some shitty site where you have the option of doing nothing except looking at the site, or paying to get rid of the hijack... My personal solution when I got one, was to install Netscape !
