I think there are a lot of positive things to game advertising. For one it gives the game's industry a new way to make money.

EA, and DICE both are companies that are very LUCKY to still be around. If you are trying to develop a new game you are taking a huge risk. If you can pay your staff through advertising fees then I feel like it is worth it to have the annoyance to see a billboard for coke as I drive my walker past them to put huge energy blasts in the back of some noobs as they try to run for cover.

I am a very anti-advertisment sort of person, however we are not talking about sony spraypainting your house with a ps2 add. We are talking about small companies that might have no other way to develop games. That takes the dollars. This merely opens the doors to smaller companies to get some capital so that they can develop more games, at a higher quality.

However if the advertisment in someway impedes gameplay expect to see me here cursing the day I ever said it was a anything but bad.

A quote from the yahoo page linked to... "Game software can also provide the companies feedback to show advertisers how much attention players give to ads."

Soo, let me get this straight, you not only want to use my bandwidth to download unwanted adds onto my computer, but now you want to collect usage statistics about what I'm doing when I play my game? Sounds close to spyware to me...

I have nothing against them using adds to make money... make a deal with coke and replace the dicecream billboard with a coke one, I wont care. But using my bandwidth to download new adds onto my computer that I dont want is addware. If I want to use addware I'll use a program that I got for free, not one that I payed to use add free!

Adware you don't agree to. Chances are the EULA will say something like "if i hit i agree that means you guys can give me ads and whatnot".

I see no problem with in-game advertising. Just don't charge us for the 2142: Arctic Assault booster pack, k?*

*Not a real booster pack... yet

IGA said it would avoid letting ads get stale and would keep them in context with game themes, avoiding situations such as promoting today's car models in futuristic battle or Old West gunfighter games.
Any ad in the middle of an ice-encrusted future city is going to be out of place. It's BS.
haha it will be something like "feeling cold visit joe fur coats" or "want to spice up your party order joe's ice sculptures"
