lol I don't know why some people ask what settings to run.. My shitty old rig runs BF2 maxed so anyone else's that's remotely new should too.

Athlon 3200+ (32bit not OCd ancient PoS that still gets me in game at worst 3rd usually 1st/2nd)
HiS ATi x1950 512MB [AGP] (Factory OCd)
2GB Corsair XMS Dual Channel DDR400

Nothing outstanding there and it maxes BF2 without a problem, I'd imagine my PC would be one of the lower ones here, mid range at best.

I used to run BF2 on a NVidia 6600 (not GT) with a 3.6Ghz P4 on High.

I recommend nothing less than i7, 6GB ram and GTX 295 for maximum bf2 experience... only bottleneck is time and monitor.

Lol, at my specs (sig) I get an average fps of 100.. and that's capped.

EDIT: That's at all high, at 1600x1200.

idk if you could pull off all high with only a single GTX 295.  have you looked at getting two cards to run in sli?

GTX295 OCTO SLI ENABLED
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

I recommend a Core i7 975, 12GB of RAM, and 2x GTX295's in SLI. Should get you decent graphics in BF2. Not sure though.

That will cause some serious timewarp tho. Once you start playing with machine like that time goes faster than you can notice.

How bout wrapping this thread in a timecapsule? Its not like the system requirements are going to jump exponentially with 1.5....

I have a E6850 3.0ghz CPU, nvidia 8800gts 512, 8gb ram. I still run some settings on medium or lowish not only because Ive been used to those settings but also because even on all high settings even with my 22" monitor with 1680x1050, I've still noticed somewhat performance impact even at 100 fps. Eye candy doesn't help u own in bf2 I'm sorry I myself have tried dozen of settings plus usersettings, The whole nine yards. Visability and less system strain is gonna yeild the best results, I know so many players who are running shtty systems with like barely a damn gig of ram and like a 2.0 CPU and they're owning everybody.

Old thread, but...

Maybe they're just good at the game?

I run on all the highest settings and am playing better than ever.
