That reminds me of this site. Basically some guy marks all of the worlds flags as if they were a kids homework project out of 100. There's some truely funny stuff in there, read the methodology before going to the grades.
Apparently the best three flags are Gambia, Pakistan and Japan. Japan would get my vote.

I was actually thinking of voting liberal democrats this time and not fascist or socialist (catholic party and greens are definitely out of the question). I have voted for VLD, SPA and Vlaams Belang, the problem is, each of these parties has things in their agenda I agree with, but also things I absolutely do not tolerate, for Vlaams Belang these things are of course racism and the obvious catholic taint. The truth is, I feel no love for this country. Whatsoever. I hate it. It is completely fake and a ******* disgrace. An imported monarchy (and thus fake) and two different people smacked together. That would be like forcing the English and the French together into one country and appointing some Italian noble as head of state. Best use of the star and crescent. Unfortunately, it depicts something astronomically impossible, namely the eclipse of the moon by a star. But perhaps it's not a star but a nuclear satellite-weapon aimed at India?

I'm not impressed with either the simplicity of the England flag or the current Union Flag, which shows three of the four Home Nations. Where's Wales, for God's sake? Unfortunately, this also rules out most of the Empire Nations, who have the Union Flag in the top left corner, and most european nations who also have simple bacvkgrounds and a single coloured cross or just a tricolore.
I'd go with the Taegeukgi - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flag_of_South_Korea - with the yin/yang symbol and the trigrams for Force, Field, Radiance and Gorge. I didn't know what they were until 5 minutes ago but they look super cool.
