Recently I had to format my hd. I just installed the game from the dvd, and run the 1.4 full patch.
It starts to buzz and humm, and after few seconds I get "Patching Failed".  ??!?

after that, I uninstalled the game completly, rebooted and tried the whole thing again.

still - "patching failed".
the intersting thing though, is after I click the "ok" of the error message, it gives the PAGE with the succesfull installation summery.


any thought ?

well, problem solved :

I installed the patch on the "broken" previous installation. It failed as well, but I noticed that the process took a bit longer to fail.

failed again runing the game,
installed the patch the 3rd time(!) on "itself". this time it got to 100%, and the game is working.

Hmm Im still getting the same thing...I just recently downloaded patch 1.4 from battlefield2.com...And thought i can finally start playing battlefield 2 again..But when i reinstall battlefield 2 and try to patch it all i get is patching failed...And everytime i try to update the game battlefield 2 stops working....can you tell me how you resolved your problem plzzzz...

Get the Full 1.4.exe

1)Uninstall everything BF2 related.

2)Restart

3)Install the full BF2 game

4)*Before you restart the computer (check restart later) install 1.4.exe full

5)Restart the comp, after the full game, AND 1.4 is installed.

This is what worked for me...

Edit:Also be shure to turn off all system defender / spyware type programs for the patching.

Nope, both ideas didnt work for me, still patching failed.

I have done the exact same as you and still no success at all can anyone please advise before i destroy the whole thing lol

Here's what has worked for me and my friends,

1. Uninstall everything BF2 Related

2. Restart comp.

3. Install full game, and add-ons.

4. install full 1.3 patch restart comp.

5. install 1.4 incremental patch (NOT FULL PATCH)

6. Restart Comp.

And presto you should be up and playing in know time.

Hope it works for others as it has worked for all of us here www.twgclan.net

EA, and Dice are a bunch of cunts....need I say more. Geta  fucking game that runs....maybe try an ID link and get a game that runs....fuckers....
