I'm very happy with 1.4. Have had one server loss, one CTD and one computer crash (which probably wasn't BF2 related) since updating (the day it was released). I love the new map. I also note the macro-users have been brought back to earth and I love that. I love I can get through round after round and not fear my score will be lost.
I've only noticed one negative and it isn't even major. My ping used to be around 40-60. Now it can often be 90-120. Not a major problem with my style of play.

i kinda like the infantry only servers...
i like how they didnt nerf the ak101, the superweapon...sometimes, if god is watching you, you can snipe people with it without even using the sights, form far, far away...
think the new map jalabad is great. had one the most insane games ever the other day! no vehicles which I thought was great (did I read that you can switch off vehicles from being there? must of as there was none!), total infantry chaos. mass battle in the junkyard area, looked like WW2 anti air craft fire with all the grenades going off constantly.
anyone who has IP address of no vehicles servers for karkand, jalabad please post them here so I can add them to my list

so far i have only played on the infantry only servers and it is so nice not having to worry about someone dropping arty or a vechile on you while you are trying to take a flag. Also, it tests your skills mor too.
The best part about infantry only IMO, is the fact that it supports good team play and forces you to squad up. It in a way forces you to work together with guys on your team, squad up to get the job done.
That is one of the biggest reason I got into BF2 in the first place the team work it takes to really own the other team. So I would say that playing on infantry only urges players to play as a team. Not all the time but I see allot more team play on infantry only then full blown servers especially lately no team play at all, just a bunch of lone wolfs running around, and for some damn reason I always end up on the lone wolf team !
Anyways, for now I really do enjoy infantry only...
I will be back to my M1A1 soon though, so be watching for the STYX man in his TANK sitting on main street!

You can filter No Vehicle Servers, most of them are running Karkand and Jalalabad already anyways.wyattwolf wrote:

I still get the occasional CTD, but other than that it works great. I do like the new map and the no vehicles option.
Its better than 1.3, cos i only CTD once, and experienced server restart once...
we'll got to say so far ok (touch wood - why am i touching my head), played for three hours and it didnt crash, played Road to jalabad - good map i quite like it. Nice play with open area that let you play support or assualt properly. with the cossy CQB aspect of KARK / MASH when in the town. not a bad map. brilliant with out vehicles.

1.4 has been an immense improvement in my eyes. Still a few things but nothing compared to 1.2-1.3... to me it's a lot like 1.12 and that is where I think the game peaked. So I'm having fun again which hasn't been true of BF2 for some time.

I like Jalalbad, no prone spamming, and IO
I've been a sniper whore the last week straight and I'm loving Jally, IO or vehicles. Best map in BF2 (besides the POE2 maps) IMO.
I'm a Karkand freak though so I'm probably biased. Jally just seems to me to be Karkand the way Karkand should have been. Many more sniper holes, ambush spots, multiple ways to get to each and every flag. It's a great map. Those that sniper on Karkand will agree that Jally is so much more fun because only the nubs go to the obvious sniper spots. The rest of us find wicked spots to hide and rack up mega kill streaks... for a sniper at least.
