He loved Animals, he tried to preserve and educate people on the beauty of them. He shared with all of us the world around us that we overlook everyday because he cared. Your dad only wishes he was half the man Steve was.

He did do it thats what sucks if he didn't he might have survived and you'd think he of all people would know not to he would not have had that much time but maybe just enough time to get help. Thats what really depresses me about this he could have prevented it and he even if he couldn't have he still had the possibilty of surviving.
Also if they do show him dieing on film I don't know if I would watch it. I just want to know if they will finish the documentry he started or show what he has done so far or do a documentry about him doing the documentry that led to his death.

The camera man who was shooting the clip he was doing shot some parts of what happened to Steve, he stopped filming when there was blood in the water....
I personally don't want to see it, it would shock me too see such a peacefull and kind man die such a horrible way.
Hopefully Terri won't allow it to be aired

well no offense but ur dad is the dumbass, steve irwin was the best animal conservationist and animal educationer in the world and for him to die like that sucks. He died doing something he loved and to say he pushed his luck too far is stupid because he was awesome and he got close to them to show us what dangers they possess etc. and with that he has probably saved thousands of lives that you dont even know about. So your dad needs to get his facts straight adn to say something like that about a great man who passed away way to early makes ur dad a jackass.

Honestly, I expected the guy to get killed by an animal at some point....I just didnt expect it to be a stingray.  Now I expected him to die by like...say an alligator, or maybe a cougar, a bear, a shark or something vicious with claws and teeth or something........not a friggin sting ray

Actually the estimate is 17 (maybe 18 now....) stingray fatalities worldwide.  3 is the number of fatalities for Australia alone.

I hope they air the shot and I think I read somewhere in this forum that if Irwin were to die while on camera he wanted the film to be aired. I just dont want to see it. Also I learned they are going to finish the file they were shooting in Steve's honor good for them.

Steve pulled the barb out of his heart before he died, that just shows how much courage the man HAS.
I wouldn't like to see the footage of this freak accident, it would be much too disturbing to see. I just wish that it was someone else that was killed and not steve.

I still can't belive he is dead though, such a fun guy to see on TV, no acting to look professional, and also in hollywood he spent 2 HOURS signing autographs, that also shows how kind he is.

R.I.P. Steve, Always a legend.

I actually thought that if you read the opening post you would find all of that out, without the need to try and find out what the answers are.

I really did enjoy the croc hunter as many other people did. But the most important thing that I learned from this is animals are dangerous and ones that can kill me shouldn't be fucked with. Other then that I'm a bit upset about the sit, it sucks but it does teach us a valuable lesson. Common Sense has never killed anyone.

A friend of mine had a stingray pierce his foot, he was in shallow water and must have started to step on the thing.  Anyway he told me when he went to the emergency room that the doctors were like "what did you say you stepped on?"  I guess they had to report it to someone and supposively it is very uncommon for a stingray actually pierce someone with the barb..

RIP Oh Crickie One
It happens all the time, But not resulting in death. The Barb, can reach lenghths of up to 10 inches long. The Ray Steve was filming was a Big one and had a barb well around 10 inches. The barb is fashioned to the ray in a way that its angled, when it jabbed its tail up, it was at such an angle that it pierced under the rib cage(freak accident) thus catching his heart. IF he were Farther in back of the ray this would be a moot point because he would be alive now.

Freak accident is what it is, and a very sad one indeed.

It's interesting to see different people's reactions. Those who saw him as a TV personality - a nature show presenter - are very ready to either insult him or call him foolish for mucking around with animals.

The people who know him more for his conservation work, (which amounts to about 90% of wha the guy did as apposed to the 10% shown on TV,) are actually really gutted about his death. I myself am an ecology nut, (most Kiwis are,) and think that Steve was a legend and it pisses me off how many people are ready to slag him off because he was a bit of a larikin o TV.
He was fully trained and completely genuine. He wasn't just a one dimentional TV charater, he was who he was, unlike some others I could name, (Jeff Corwin, who tried to grab some of Steve's popularity by acting like an overenthusiastic wildlife presenter, but that's all it was for Corwin - an act.)

Steve was unlucky. It wasn't anything to do with his skill, or his perchant for getting in close to potentially dangerous animals.
He was a legend no matter what some extremly outspoken writers would call him, or some uneducated people who only knew him for his TV and movie appearances.

If this is right that did not help at all on the contrary. Never pull out knives it will make you bleed faster.
thats just a rumor going around, i doubt he pulled it, john stainton was asked that by a CNN news anchor and he said "dont ya hear a lot of rumors and stuff going around on this, its not true, im quite offended that you would ask me that"
