compared to what other diseases? that's vague. is this the part where we compare covid to the bubonic plague again, and leprosy? how fun.

the closest proximate common disease to covid is the common cold. we've never been able to develop an effective vaccine of any type for that. it's thanks to cutting-edge research and techniques like GoF that we've even got as far to understanding, and being able to counter, things like the spike protein.

literally the only way we are going to best covid as it continues to evolve and mutate is to continue things like meaningful serology+GoF research to keep apace of said mutations. it's really that simple.

saying you want to declare a moratorium on all GoF research really IS accepting defeat and giving into the pandemic. you know, the disengagement and culpable negligence that you daily charge everyone else with, who is trying to get on with their lives and resume civil society. derp.

For the sake of argument let's say a virus is developed to specifically attack Chinese, and only Chinese people. Over a billion Chinese in China and I'm sure, if we're going to include recent descendants, upper-8 figure expats and people living abroad. 1+ million in your country for crying out loud. You speak so casually of wiping out such a vast number of human beings (even if hopefully in poor jest), yet constantly harp on about Israelis bullying Palestinians (who you don't care about except as an anvil to criticize Jews). Using the Holocaust as a measuring stick. Let's also not forget how you think Indians and probably Africans should all just curl up and die because you don't want to regulate your excessive power consumption.

You're literally championing genocide rn and it's honestly nauseating.

e: add'l weren't you constantly concerned about covid mutations? what if your hypothetical genocide bug makes a jump between genetic factors? You'd feel pretty fucking stupid with you and your family drowning in your own lungs, wouldn't you.

Covid did come from a lab, various other pandemics have come from asian meat production.

How is that impoverished people's faults?
