orly? you sure you are not russian living under putin the arch evil? because in western democracies that just shouldn't happen - too shady and bad for business, i'm told.

As for covid though, there's deep moral and ethical considerations here and employers & employees respect government policy in that area. Nobody wants the pandemic to be worse than it already is.
evidently, some poeple only care about their profits.

These sorts of numbers being added is distressing even if you accept only 1% of the people die.

Boris' hair looks like if you dipped it in water, it would dissolve like cotton candy.

in the UK we're about 15 years past making comments about his hair. the stuff has acted like a smoke-screen for his behaviour/attitudes for long enough.

Boris seems genuinely angry there. And improvising.

he has been drowning at PMQs ever since starmer took over labour. two very different beasts. boris's oxford union style joking and cajoling do not work against a queen's counsel senior barrister.

It's kind of hard not to notice though, like Trump's orange face. It almost has the look like it was added into that photo with post-processing.

Been over it before I think, but you can poke fun at a politician's appearance and belittle their performance in office at the same time. I would say that also fits into the job description of a political cartoonist. No shortage of criticism against our president apart from his artificial-looking appearance.

the problem is that boris's appearance and demeanour are all part of a foppish, bumbling persona, which actually masks a very cold and manipulating operator underneath. boris is ruthless and a complete narcissist. he knowingly has bad hair. the man used to make a quarter of a million pounds a year for a newspaper column alone. he can afford a good tailor and a makeover. the hair is calculated and is meant to be 'funny' or 'disarming'. it's not really that amusing, is it?

So much better than corbyn to be honest. Not just in his manner of speech, but professionalism as well. Boris looks like a chump opposite starmer. Probably your next PM, if he wants to keep this up for 4 years that is.... or elections are brought forward somehow.

I didn't feel his first question was very strong here though, could've done some more digging to set up a retort to the 'it was all for public awareness' argument. but I assume he still needs to grow into the role as well. Could use a little more theatre.

It's both amusing and not. I think it's funny (not in a complimentary way) that he evidently ruffles his own hair to purposefully make a clown of himself. I don't think it's funny that he was given any kind of power.

Could only imagine having, say, Rush Limbaugh bringing his put-on goofball persona to an important government position. Yeeeeech.

Speaking of:

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Limbaugh asserted that the virus was the common cold.[200] Limbaugh said on his radio show on February 24, 2020, "I'm dead right on this. The coronavirus is the common cold, folks," alleging it was being "weaponized" to bring down Trump.[201] The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention state that "The virus causing coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), is not the same as the coronaviruses that commonly circulate among humans and cause mild illness, like the common cold."[202] Limbaugh's statement has been called "wildly irresponsible".[203]

100% correct.  Masks are the symbol of fear and virtue signaling.  But all this is doing for Dems is building resentment when people see that in sensible states others go about their business without the mask nonsense.  They’ll REMEMBER IN NOVEVEMBER!

Checking out his front page, lashing out at Fox news (the betrayers!). Biden addressed as "so-called president elect."

several huge u-turns and fiascos from the tory governmnt and their cretin pals in charge during 2020. a few heads of department had to fall on their swords, but no ministers or senior politicos responsible have resigned. the new normal.

I bet that a month after his inauguration fox will run headlines asking why Biden has done nothing about covid 19. Or why Biden is letting the economy fail.

Seems that in like 5 days the west coast went from "trending poorly" to "uncontrolled spread" on this (https://www.covidexitstrategy.org) chart:

Apart from Trump's total incompetence though, isn'it it the states who need to monitor the spread and act accordingly? So why are all these governors failing?

I would hazard that the virus being made into a political plaything early on didn't help state and local authorities make the most sweeping preventative measures they could have. And for sure not helped by chaos from the top.

The US response to the coronavirus (not to unfairly include health workers in this comparison) is probably like someone only half-heartedly squeezing back a wet bowel movement. Maybe less strenuous in the short term, but you shit your pants.

Jay has antibodies. COVID-19 is now an issue separate from him until the heat death of the universe, and we shouldn't unfairly expect him to spend extra time with his horrible little children over it. They should be in kindergarten.

Also washing hands is for sissies who don't want their parents to die of a terrible disease. Honestly, screw jay and the deck he rode in on.
