I tried to parse it into two halves to make sense of it, but they just don't fit together. I think he started typing one thing, then got distracted and finished with another. I've moved posts to the bot thread that made more sense.

He's slowly morphing into the grandparent who just can't stop making extremely racist comments in between his unintelligible rambling.

What even are the key points in that monstrosity of a statement? I think I got it now:

- there is a indian family whose kids spread covid 19 in quarantine hotel rooms
- there is major incompetence in the AUS government
- followed by a question on whether arts & humanities are useful backgrounds for a health minister

Dilbert is actually going loopy, the coronavirus is melting his brain. Quarantine is getting to him.

If you cut off the end of the sentence then obviously the sentence won't make sense to you, dur.

I'll simplify it for you, in bullet points so you can follow.

- For some reason the Aus govt has allowed people to come from one of the worst hit countries, if not the worst hit, into the country knowing a good proportion will be infected.

- The Victorian government completely failed to put adequate controls in place to manage infected people while in quarantine, giving the job to flaky contractors who hired random people on below minimum wage via whatsapp then gave them no training or ongoing management and inadequate PPE.

- 90% Of current cases in Victoria, which is around 5,000, have been linked by genomic testing to a family of four whose kids smeared shit all over their hotel room.

- This has likely delayed Australia from getting back to some normality by about six months and cost the economy billions of dollars, pretty well all down to one moron politician who ignored all the available advice and turned down available resources.

- I'm confident the average person is as pissed as I am.

the reason that immigrant communities have higher rates of transmission is because they typically live in giant fucking tower blocks, low-income areas, high-density housing projects, etc, and because they're typically employed either in front-line service roles (uber drivers, bus drivers, taxi drivers, cleaners and janitors, etc) or in giant factories or food processing plants. no shit they spread it more! they are working shit jobs to survive and spending all their time in unhygienic, confined environments! the fact you make it into some racial diatribe about 'uncaring' or 'reckless' immigrants is really fucking rich. you've spent all of lockdown in your parents' house in wagga wagga and the biggest inconvenience you've experienced is restaurants being not-so-fun. come on, THINK ABOUT IT dilbert.

'letting them in', the entire idea of a continent in that proximity to SE Asia remaining covid-free forever is an inane fantasy. it would have got in on some surface/good or border-hopper eventually. and not just chinese students or 'dirty' indians, either, but aussie nationals, businessmen, young tourists/backpackers wanting to come back from their beach parties in thailand, etc. etc.

sure, quarantine might have been a clusterfuck there. it has been here too. blame the public health administrators/government. track and trace is purely a matter of organization and resources.

what does shit smearing have to do with anything? it's a respiratory disease that spreads via mucous membranes as an aerosol or surface contaminant not a water-borne disease or fecal-borne disease. a regular hotel guest who is sick with perfect bodily hygiene would spread covid all over the room.get a fucking grip. this is literally just the 'omg indians don't shit properly' trope. very insightful stuff.

Dilbert, you seem stuck on the poop smearing. Are we talking like a toddler, ASD, or some psychological issue in an older kid? There are probably any number of reasons for it, and I'm sure that no serious list would start with "lol immigrants." Also while gross, probably not directly connected with the spread of COVID-19.

The reason for a child or young person smearing their faeces can be either medically related, sensory related or behavioural.

Incidentally, you can also find any number of stories about poop smeared on restroom walls at school or work in blogs across the internet. They can't all be from India, right?

another completely avoidable tragedy will unfold in september. all the data and warning signs are there. the first few college campuses to re-open and return to normal classes are seeing clusters and new spreads. data from germany and france shows that transmission in schools is already higher than first thought.

i wonder what jay makes of all this?

meanwhile the US is ploughing ahead like a steamship with a rum-poxed captain and the U.K. health minister is saying there’s ‘no data that workplaces or schools increase transmission’. you know, the health minister who got covid at work. and infected all of his colleagues. and who is referring to a lack of historical data because offices have been closed for 6 months.
