contrary to nero, he's only interested in managing his own optics and public relations. the u-turn on masks is just a quick pivot so that they can continue to blame state level authorities, medical workers and scientists when this huge mid-west/southern spike starts adding to the death toll. just watch the messaging change in the next 2 weeks. 'we gave them everything they needed and we just don't understand why these states are in chaos'.

Not Trump's fault! Doctors' faults for asking the populace to please not buy out all the N95 masks like they were toilet paper, and for telling us that incorrect use is bad, m'kay.

My best friend just tested positive for COVID-19. He started running a fever last night, followed by coughing fits and sore throat. He said he slept all day today, and just got his results back. I last saw him on 7/3 (we went hiking together) so I think I'm in the clear.

He has a wife and two boys. I hope he is not one of the unfortunate cases. This is the first positive case in my immediate circle of friends and family. Maybe I am worrying too much, but I can't imagine how his family is feeling right now.
Update to this. My friend came back negative today. He forgot to cash his bill gates check, so his 1 year old and 4 year old also contracted it. So did his wife, but as far as i know, the conspiracy folks aren't arguing that women aren't carriers/vectors.

His wife is a teacher. I guess she has a few months immunity, which will probably wear off right around the time people make a big push for schools to reopen. Again

I am happy to hear you are okay too. These are scary times. A man with a family being in danger is heart wrenching. I hope everything turns out well with his family.

I prayed for you last night, Ken.

So anyway, schools typically start up after Labor Day in 44 days. COVID just set another daily case total record of 75,000 confirmed cases. Deaths have been over 1,000 for 5 days straight. A new second wave peak of 1,200 deaths yesterday too.

Deaths peaked at about 3,000 a day in April. So COVID has room to work. I doubt we will make it to 200,000 deaths by school time in September but that would be an interesting topic first week of school.

Was it a jewish prayer or a catholic prayer?

We should thank Catholic God that the Hurricane hitting Texas right now is only a category 1. That's barely even a hurricane.

The south has handled this virus much worse than the north. Our death totals might be higher (for now) but the rest of the country had much longer to prepare than we did. Florida has surpassed NY in case totals with no sign of slowing down. They add 9,000 cases a day. If one 1% of those die that is still 100 a day or 3,000 a month. And that is with their under reporting.

wasn't it funny how jay promoted the, frankly fucking bizarre, line during the first few months that the north performed so badly because 'democrat state workers had looted their healthcare to fund their lucrative pensions packages'.

Florida Covid-19 cases in children: Hospitalizations among kids jump 23%

Just weeks before schools must open across Florida, the numbers of new cases and hospitalizations due to Covid-19 have surged.

On July 16, the state had a total of 23,170 children ages 17 and under who had tested positive since the beginning of the pandemic, according to the Florida Department of Health. By July 24, that number jumped to 31,150.

That's a 34% increase in new cases among children in eight days.

And more children in Florida are requiring hospitalization. As of July 16, 246 children had been hospitalized with coronavirus. By July 24, that number had jumped to 303.

That's a 23% increase in child Covid-19 hospitalizations in eight days.

During that same time period, the death toll among children in Florida went from 4 to 5.

On July 18, Kimora "Kimmie" Lynum died from Covid-19 complications, according to state health department records. The 9-year-old girl's family said Kimmie had no known pre-existing conditions.

The surges in child Covid-19 cases and hospitalizations come amid rampant debate over whether children should return to classrooms this fall, or if they should continue remote learning.

They also directly contradict US Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos' claims that children are "stoppers of the disease" who "don't get it and transmit it themselves."

Actually there is good news
After weeks of sharp increases, there are some signs that new coronavirus cases in the United States may be plateauing at a high daily rate.

Nationally, the seven-day daily average of new confirmed cases was just under 66,000, according to data from Johns Hopkins University. That is still a startlingly high number of infections, but it's the lowest it has been in the US in 10 days.
https://www.cnn.com/2020/07/27/health/u … index.html

In about mid August the second wave in the south will subside to first wave in the north numbers. Then the rust belt will reopen schools in time for a third wave to take place in the Midwest this time. The trilogy should be over at that point.

Trying to see the bright side in half a year of this mismanagement is like reading the Soviet Union putting a positive spin on WW2 casualties.

It was tongue in cheek. Man, so much as utter "blyat" on this forum, and you rise from the swamps of time like an avenging spirit. And here I am without a summoning circle.

So a lot of European countries are already experiencing a second wave way before it was expected.

I hope we get lucky and can start using some vaccine before years end, 2020 has been shit

trump is still pushing twitter links claiming that hydroxychloroquine is the cure. lmao. after dozens of clinical trials that show it has no efficacy. he's even arguing publicly with fauci about it.

What about his supposedly intelligent supporters who back him on everything, including the nonsense? When we do get a successful vaccine, the man could claim it causes space autism, and then the US would be in for wave 4.
