I'm not flattering myself. I'm scared for my industry. One of my best friends has been forced to take a 33% reduction and is trying to change jobs in the middle of the worst employment crisis of our lives. He asked me to bring him in with my company. He's like the 10th person.

Meanwhile unemployment in my country and other northern european countries has barely risen. We're at about 5.9% or so I believe, a 3 year high

that’s definitely going to change. the eurozone are low balling the extent of the crisis at the moment.

Hard to say at the moment as it strongly depends on how fast quarantine measures can be relaxed. The resilience we have is finite of course. Down the line we can also suffer compounding effects from what's happening in the USA.

Nonetheless all things considered so far we're holding up much better than I expected/feared.

to say nothing of the effect of several trillion dollars/euros worth of stimulus being pumped into the economy in short order.

Well there's probably a whole lot more money that's going to be printed and thrown at banks/corporations/welfare before this is all over with.

Now is the time for the creation of state-owned enterprises specializing in healthcare. We should never have a shortage of PPE. American leadership opposes using PPE though so we can't do that.

Every once in a while I watch vlogs of people who like to do outdoors stuff / vehicle work in garages and there's quite a number of them who now feel the need to comment on the spread of coronavirus in the United States. Naturally, most of these people are midwestern/southern republican small town types.

I quote verbatim: "I'm pretty sure that coronavirus is all bullshit now anyway! I think bout this a lot and I dunno about you guys but things are playing out too convenient, it's all a set-up! I'm not articulate bout this but I tell ya hwat it's all too convenient!"

These moronic motherfuckers have succesfully politicised a global pandemic. Honestly at this point I'm starting to think the US needs a cataclysmic event to rock society so that they may filter out the stupid. A significant portion of their political establishment has been propelling itself forward on charades & smoke and mirrors for a little too long now.

Police are looking for a woman who deliberately coughed on a baby in a stroller at a restaurant following a verbal altercation with the child's mother.

The incident occurred in the afternoon of June 12 at approximately 5:25 p.m. at a Yogurtland establishment in San Jose, California, when the suspect, a woman described as a white female in her 60s, was standing in line in front of a mother and her 1-year-old child, who was in a stroller, when she allegedly became upset with the mother for not maintaining proper social distancing.

“The preliminary investigation revealed the suspect was upset the female was not maintaining proper social distancing, so the suspect removed her face mask, got close to the baby’s face, and coughed 2-3 times,” said Sergeant Enrique Garcia in a press release from the San Jose Police Department.
Good stuff. Fantastic way to throw your life away.

They should probably stop voting for Democrats then. I pay about $20/month for water.

Why is your water bill only a fraction of the U.S. average monthly bill?

Because I don't live in a desert, and I don't live in a city run by Democrats trying to tax everything that moves to shore up their accounts so they can keep paying their ridiculous pensions.

Cleveland is on a Great Lake. They have infinite fresh water, so it should be nearly free. They also have a gutted tax base and need to make up the deficits.

I still find it hard to believe a family of 4.5 water bill in suburban NY is 1/3 the national average. Do you bathe? Wash your clothes? How do you do it?

Every city listed in that article is Democrat run. Every city but Seattle and Cleveland are in the desert, where water is naturally scarce and should be more expensive. Cleveland and Seattle have plentiful water, but they also have progressive governments that have massive pensions and tax and spend local governments.

They all got what they paid for when they voted.

I don't have a permanent irrigation system. Sprinklers use tremendous amounts of water. I also have high efficiency appliances. My water rates are low because water isn't scarce here. My electricity and gas bills though...

From my budget:
Gas       $195.00
Electric     $139.00
Water     $21.64
Solar     $76.88

I'm not sure I understand the connection between pensions and water bills. Is the suggestion that the actual commodity cost is a small fraction of the fees charged, with the rest being taxes? Wouldn't the very first journalist to even give the water bills a cursory thought have figured that out and published on the front page of the NYT?

Jay, I've noticed that as the US 2020 election approaches you've been expressing more theories that the Democratic Party is the root of all issues in America. I don't mean this to be demeaning--I only hope you've also noticed.

As Texas hits all-time high in new COVID-19 cases, Gov. Greg Abbott tightens outdoor gathering rules
https://www.dallasnews.com/news/public- … bott-says/

Big news that Texas is taking steps to limit the freedom of people. Texas has always been a state full of secret gays pretending to be tough. The fact that they are taking these steps is dramatic.
