So people don't go hungry when we don't have to. In World War 2 we produced a new tank every few seconds. We could do that but can't pack oranges?
You have weird obsessions.
What obsession is this one?

The only people that have to worry about starving are the ones that lost their jobs when the government shut them down. Beg Murphy to reopen the schools so poor kids can get their free breakfast and lunch.

Yeah arc flash rated smok suit. Only really for opening/closing discs and CBs in the rack. I just wear a normal FR long sleeve and pants otherwise

Have u worked in substations before?
I have a buddy who works for MWD. How long have you been an electrician? Union or non-union?
i finished the program 2 years ago. i'm union (IBEW) but i'm not really an electrician/wireman. i kinda wish i was though because it's less responsibility and i like hands on mechanical stuff but at the same time i hate being out in the sun all day breaking my back. i was a groundman for lineman for about 8 months since i thought i wanted to be a lineman at first. there was some good days but overall that shit sucked for a lot of reasons. it's exhausting work most of the time and pretty dangerous as well, not to mention the shitty personalities/work culture. i can't even count how many times i had journeymen cuss me out throwing shit, acting like little kids on a heated temper tantrum. that type of work is only legit if you can promote super quick into some type of management/supervisor position. not even worth the time it takes to get there. i want to be in good physical health when i'm like 50 and still be able to go skiing and shit without walking with a limp.

i work for LADWP btw (anybody reading this can dox me idc lol)

how does your homie like MWD? i'm honestly not really familiar with them. are they private or state? i just know they deal with the aqueduct and basically all the water in socal that's not LADWP lol. LA is pretty unique i guess that just 1 utility handles all the water and power. other cities have private utilities for power and different ones for water etc.

@Jay out here they had some schools open throughout the whole lockdown so kids could get their lunch/breakfast. it was free for everyone, no questions asked.

It's public-private. He is an inspector. He loves his job for all the reasons most public employees like their jobs. He mostly sits on youtube and reddit and smokes cigars with his coworkers.

Don't change the subject. Why don't you care about the small children much like your own?

I am not changing the subject. Those children are normally fed at school and yet you do not wish to have school reopen, why?

I read in the paper today that 20% of teachers do not want to return to work in the fall. We should have the National Guard come in and fill those roles.

This is not a normal summer. We are in a depression. Even if we open up the economy and force everyone back to work, the economy will be shot.

The National Guardsmen will just try to have sex with kids. They will offer them rations in exchange for sex just like Vietnam.

From military.com:

Currently, the military branches require all personnel on base to wear face coverings when they cannot maintain six feet of physical distance in public areas or work centers. This applies to all military personnel, Defense Department civilian employees, contractors, family members and other base visitors. The rules do not apply within a personal residence located on a military installation, or to active-duty members off base and off duty.

Military families undergoing a pack-out in conjunction with PCS orders are required to wear face coverings while the movers are present in their residence; this applies to both on-base and off-base housing. Military families living in government housing may be required to wear face coverings while maintenance personnel are present in their homes as well.

All exchanges and commissaries require all patrons to wear face coverings in stores both on and off base. AAFES and Navy Exchange outlets have both cloth and paper masks in stock and on sale at most locations worldwide and online.

All of this means that if you are on duty and don't wear a mask as required, you could face nonjudicial punishment. If your family members are caught on base without masks in a public situation, you may expect to have a discussion with your chain of command regarding their behavior. Also, if you are a visitor to a military base, you won't be let through the main gate unless you have a mask in your possession.
It's probably a good thing for Jay's sanity that he's out. Also, aren't JROTC events canceled, with only a resumption tentatively planned for August?

Even if the National Guard had enough qualified teachers to "take over" teaching, why should they be put at this unnecessary risk I wonder.

One comment claiming Trump called a reporter "politically correct" for wearing one. I don't know if it's true but I imagine if I look it up, I'll find a clip.

e: here it is - https://www.mediaite.com/tv/trump-accus … onference/

You can just tell how contrite the president is right now for his earlier bungling. Politicizing the virus well into May.

And now attacking the right to vote. A true patriot.

demonising people for taking precautions with their own health, when you live in a country with almost zero safety net for medicine, is a pretty fucking neat flex. so dismantle any sort of public healthcare, then bully people who try to keep themselves out of avoidable illness/hospital trip? o k.

turning the worst pandemic stats in the entire world
into a partisan issue is a neat trick. morally bankrupt, but what else did anyone expect?

A third of Americans now show signs of clinical anxiety or depression, Census Bureau finds amid coronavirus pandemic 5/26
https://www.washingtonpost.com/health/2 … rc404=true

I'm sure long-deteriorating living standards are partly to blame, as well as (at the risk of overextending my argument) food and health care insecurity during the ravages of an ongoing illness that has claimed more American lives in a few months than the Vietnam War did in 20 years.

I wonder what the memorial wall will look like.

Also, Jay: you should totally learn how to butcher animals as a part of your survivor training.

Advisors don't take decisions, they advise, ministers and the PM take decisions, not advisors.
