Private schools for K-8 education is highly recommended by me. If your kid is a derp or fuck up by the age of 14, private high school is an expensive waste of money. If you think about it though, if you live in an area with shitty public schools then that is mostly your fault for living in that area. I don't buy into the "there goes the neighborhood" type of thinking suburban people have.

And still just making your kids good at school isn't the most rounded education you can give them. Raising kids who have no "faith, virtue, patience, temperance, love, and charity" is how you end up with kid who give a girl a #MeToo moment in college.

i thought you said home-schooling was just as good, and the stereotype about it being for jesus freaks is out of date? why don't you get them a personal tutor? what was all that stuff you were saying about lutheran schools having a good cachet and reputation? are you sure you don't care at all about class jay? you don't sound very libertarian.
This is the dumbest line of attack you've ever taken.
oh don't worry, there's about 120 other examples of you being a hypocrite totally bereft of all principle.

Oh stop. Stop with the UBI nonsense. You can't write unlimited debt and expect it to work out. Dumbest shit the Sanders/AOC camp has come up with. We should've never shut down.
No-one has ever said UBI should be funded by debt.

But of course its OK to pay for tax cuts with debt. I mean that makes perfect sense.

Look at all those uncucked people having a good time in Missouri. Liberals just don't want people having fun.

This is what Memorial Day is all about. This is what the troops would have wanted.

jay was a network admin. he's a big-boned lad and outsizes most people, which is just about his only claim to tough guy status.

can we please move past this idea that he's some grizzled 'american sniper'. he passed basic training, which even a consumptive like shifty could do with a bit of application.

The response I always seem to get is that "well people don't have any choice, they need to eat." Granted, but what does that have to do with packing into a massive beach party?

Then changed topic.

things are very febrile here at the moment. a minister has resigned from cabinet. it's fairly unprecedented for someone with the seniority of a minister to quit over an unelected political aide.

Anyway, only 500 Americans died yesterday from COVID. So it seems like the worst of it is over and we can prepare to reopen.

I'm back at work full time again. Past few months I was working one week on one week off (paid of course). And traffic sucks again

I would sacrifice the economy and every single one of u for a big spike in cases if it means we get another lockdown so I can deal with less traffic and only work every other week

I would have invested in a lifetime bangbros subscription if this kept up

Ken I'm an electrical station operator for a city utility. I do high voltage switching in big receiving stations and smaller distribution stations. It's mostly just button pushing on a switching board. I don't have to do much physical shit anymore. Thank god. Blue collar work is fucking horrible I'm not cut out for it. And to think I wanted to be a lineman

The most physical thing I have to do is open up disconnects with a hot stick sometimes

Does Boris Johnson have a core of unshakable supporters in the U.K. like Trump has? I saw a headline that his approval dropped by 20-points.

it's hard to say. he's got where he is out of the being the best fall-guy option out of a terrible bunch. the conservatives dropped two leaders and fought two elections basically over brexit, so 'normal' politics has gone way out the window.

it's fair to say he won the election he did because the opposition were so hopelessly split over brexit, and he had a simple message. it was the message that won the day (for better or for worse). a single-issue vote, in short.

his approval is way down and feeling in the country is very bad over covid-19. lots of governments have been toppled over mishandlings similar to this one. the scale is vast and the leadership have been shown to be very weak.

They Survived the Worst Battles of World War II. And Died of the Virus. 5/25
https://www.yahoo.com/news/survived-wor … 45722.html

[…]

The virus has spread in more than 40 veterans’ homes in more than 20 states, leading to the deaths of at least 300 people.

The conditions inside the 247-bed state-run home, where Miller had lived for five years, were so chaotic that his children cannot recount them without breaking down.

When Miller lay weak and gasping that weekend, his two daughters, in a car in the parking lot, pleaded with a nurse on duty over an iPhone to give him morphine or atropine to relieve his suffering.

“She said, ‘We can’t do it,’ and she started to cry,” said his daughter Linda McKee. “There was no one there giving orders.”

Michael Miller, at his father’s bedside, did the only thing he could do: moistened his lips with a sponge on a wooden stick.

“At that point, he was choking,” McKee said. “He died with no care whatsoever.”

The question of what went wrong at the Holyoke Soldiers’ Home will be with Massachusetts for a long time.

With scarce protective gear and a shortage of staff, the facility’s administrators combined wards of infected and uninfected men, and the virus spread quickly through a fragile population.

Of the 210 veterans who were living in the facility in late March, 89 are now dead, 74 having tested positive for the virus. Almost three-quarters of the veterans inside were infected. It is one of the highest death tolls of any end-of-life facility in the country.
It's probably easier to dismiss the suffering of the elderly through the sterilized lens of statistics. "They're old and it's to be expected."

Quite another thing when it's your family or someone you know.

Johnson's downfall is really something. Being struck by corona and surviving was a magnificent political gift - he could've leveraged that into record polling numbers, regardless of the fact that the initial response had been shit. Instead he managed to completely botch it and now lets his government cave in on itself over his political aide... how hard is it. Should've gotten rid of the guy ages ago, there's always a suitable replacement in arms reach at that level.

Nah, built lots of substations and switchgear rooms as GC. Not a sparky, personally.
