I used to be into N. back in college but only vaguely remember it now. I do remember his criticism of the Christianity as an ideology of resentment against the Romans and their values. That's a harsher criticism of Christianity than what I hear a lot of internet atheist go on about. The best criticism I ever heard of Islam was by a Victorian era British orientalist who argued that Muhammad just threw together all of the ideas going around the Arabian Peninsula into a single religion because he wanted to be a leader. I respect that argument a lot more than people complaining about 7th century marriage practices.

the basic accession to power, or as an escape valve to let off the pressure of subjugation, is pretty much universal to all religions.

American companies only offshore because we are the only country in the world that taxes overseas income when it returns here.

And does it though? Countries with high minimum wages also generally have high unemployment rates and serious issues with non-working underclass. UBI is meant to replace the dole with a non-means tested handout. These same people would still be right there. All it would do is gut the role of social workers who currently play gatekeeper for benefits programs. Same benefits, less paperwork. No movement in social mobility.
