speaking of rl relationships i found myself the listening ear for a karen's medium-strength karen story. like, do you nod along and go "wow, yeah, that's something," and be a karen-shelterer defending them from deserved criticism? or do you bluntly point out that they really were the karen in that anecdote, and face the consequences after. lose-lose.

i think when the karening occurred as well factors into the ideal response.

people could go to social media for this. there's the aita reddit, for starters. online therapy if halfway serious.

christmas presents only seem to work between adults if there's some sort of equivalent-effort exchange and regular attempts to keep up on each others' interests. sending and not receiving, and vice-versa, is awkward. do you even know the person that well? what can you send that won't end up in a goodwill? imagine being a poor, tightly budgeting for a gift for the in-laws, and then they chuck it into their next garage sale.
