Conversely the current generation have seen their parents work themselves to death only to have a big house to die in, whats the point really in working too hard?

Unless you inherited a house, home ownership isn't worth it. Constant upkeep and property taxes will eat into any profit you expect to make 40 years down the line assuming your home even appreciates in value.

Frankly I don't even know how someone can stomach buying a home in today's market. The average home price in my town is $400K and going up 10% each year. Most of the young people living here will never be able to own a home in their hometown. Average rent is $1500, you can't even afford to rent one of those fancy "luxury apartments" they keep building on top of what used to be affordable housing.

in terms of graduate prospects, yes. outside of a russell group / top25 university, or one without a medical school or a research fast-track, yep it’s definitely not worth the high tuition fees. believe it or not ordinary employers are not clamouring for soft/social science graduates from no-name universities.

i take it you know how to read. i never said ‘studying psychology is a waste of time’ in that absolute sense. i’m reading some psychology right now.

Not trying to be a dick, honestly, but it kinda looks like you did

With the increase of widespread depression and the massive uptick in people seeing therapists I think psychology students are actually going to be in high demand and quite useful to humanity in general

not trying to be a dick? i literally said ‘the university of bottomshire’ you illiterate dumbass.

psychology degrees don’t teach you how to become a therapist fyi. and more and more people are definitely not being prescribed (expensive and resource intensive) therapy on the NHS. it is all antidepressants and cognitive behavioural therapy with counsellors. you are literally clueless.

Psychology is different than psychiatry. It is medical field. You need premed and bio classes.

finlay doesn’t know what the fuck he’s taking about, as per. i also don’t know about this ‘uptick’ in people seeing therapists. therapy is incredibly expensive, mostly private and unregulated, and has worse results (according to most meta studies) than behaviourist or pharmaceutical approaches.

here’s an eg. one of my best friends did psychology undergrad at my uni, one of the best departments in the country. he did an advanced neurology-specialised psychology masters at UCL, probably one of the best departments for it in the world. he now works in advertising for a leading london firm. that’s because psychology degrees teach you about human motivation, desire, attention — which can be used to sell products. they don’t train you how to listen to people or make them feel better. lmao. it is a research field in the social sciences not a vocational course to train therapists.

well not going into the field I'm sorry I don't know the exact ins and outs, I thought it would be a prerequisite

really love being called an illiterate dumbass for asking honest questions though, thanks

none of us are going into the field but yet we all knew that psychiatry is obviously not psychology.

what's funny is that i was making very reasonable and qualified statements about psychology, and you jumped on my dick. you were then totally wrong. isn't that funny? if you'd managed to keep up with the extensive, three-post-long history of our discussion, you'd see that my comments were made (to dilbert) in the context of university enrolment, massive student debt, graduate prospects, etc. and i'm quite right in saying that psychology graduates from the bottom 75% of universities are not exactly making a great investment.

maybe you should stick to posting 6-second vine/youtube clips and quoting 5-year-old memes. and you wonder why you're unemployable?

i mean you can be super defensive about it if you want, but I wasn't "jumping on your dick", I was just asking you to qualify your statement. i fail to see how enrolling in a sub-par university is a complete waste, sure it might not be optimal but maybe it's all those people can attain? not everyone can be top 10-25% of their field.

ps I don't wonder why I'm not unemployable because I am employed.. and my memes are fully up to date.

did you even read the discussion? the point is a sub-par degree will put you in a crippling amount of debt which you will never repay because graduate employers don’t give a fuck about sub-par university graduates. you’ll pay £40,000 to spend your life still in non-graduate employment. have at it my man. but if you’re going to do ‘learning for learning’s’ sake, do a proper degree at least.

this might objectively be the worst pet you could have. it's nocturnal, it smells bad, it's so skittish that the slightest movement makes it engage self-defence mode, and you can't stroke it because it's covered in spikes. what a shit animal.

Consecutive passport numbers (again).
Phone activity from near to, and a taxi receipt from the GRU to Moscow airport.
Car full of surveillance equipment, and laptop with hacked  data from Malaysia on flight MH-17 and Switzerland relating to a hack on WADA.

Guessing these guys were just there on a sightseeing trip, or maybe to visit the gay bars...

the fact that russian media and other elements of the kremlin/govt are expressing criticism of the GRU says it all.

putin even got angry in an interview and called skripal a 'scumbag' and a 'traitor' or something like that. it's fairly obvious to everyone.

except shahter. the presence of money forbids any inquiry into truth!!!!

"all", huh? what does it say again?

skripal is a scumbag and a traitor. nothing wrong with calling him that, imo.

except shahter. the presence of money forbids any inquiry into truth!
forbids? no, i don't think so. more like makes it irrelevant.

finally we get an answer to my perfectly reasonable question half a year ago. "hey man, what's your opinion on your government trying to assassinate skripal?"

"everybody does espionage, deal with it".

now, wasn't that easy?
