NR article about how the trans movement is failing because it doesn't support a "live and let live" mindset that the gay rights movement effectively used. The article is centered around the trans swimmer whose cisgender teammates complain about her always winning. I really don't care about women's sports all that much. Few people genuinely do.

Anyhow the top comment on the article. +21
I've never understood the "two men getting married doesn't affect you" argument. Redefining marriage - the bedrock institution of society - absolutely impacts me. You may think the impact is good or you might think it's not, but it's definitely consequential for everyone.
Gaaaaay! This dude is clearly a secret gay. It is very gay to internalize the belief that two men getting married affects your relationship with your wife. "I can no longer make love to my wife because there are gay night clubs in San Francisco".

the idea that married family life is the bedrock is also a bit of ideological camouflage, isn’t it? property is the bedrock of society and capitalist organisation has settled on the ‘nuclear family’ as the ideal productive, property-owning unit; that is, the man earns the income and the woman fulfills the domestic labour.

the idea that the ‘tradition’ of marriage is holding society together is hilarious. is it even appreciated in such a theological and absolute way nowadays? people have been getting married in the secular west as a means to secure property, merge and amass fortunes, forge family alliances, etc, for centuries. there’s very little sanctified about it.

Republicans supposedly love the nuclear family but are unwilling to legislate things to help people achieve it. These days affording a family, or a home, way more daunting.

It's like any other fake Republican concern though. Pro-life, until you're born.

Are we seriously back on this again? I'm so tired of hearing about transsexuals in sports. It's such a strange conservative obsession irrevocably laced with bald insinuation and the usual nasty, phobic jokes. Don't you think sporting organizations and medical professionals can hash all this out without the intervention of a bunch of yeehaw interlopers from congress or infowars offering up snark? "The trannies are out to grope your grandma at the rest stop!" bemoans public-restroom-affair-having-official to the cheers of a pitchfork and torch bearing crowd. Freaking gross.

What's even more boggling is that you're off on this tangent because we won't give you a blessing for your junk food diet? "Haha look at the disgusting person on the pedestal!" What the heck man.

A subdemographic of a microscopic demographic is receiving what seems like a disproportionate amount of attention to me.

Also, wouldn't be more appropriate to protest to the organization for a perceived unfairness than further and persistently bully a small number of athletes who already deal with enough bullying as it is.

I get the distinct impression that people who expend so much energy on complaining about the horrors of transwomen in sports are less concerned about fairness to female players and are more complaining about transgenders in general. Probably sharing a big spot on the Venn with the people who who smugly proclaim that if a bakery won't make you a cake, go to another bakery. Go watch a different sport then. Didn't some people boycott American football because of the kneeling stuff? It was stupid, but probably among the most appropriate responses that demographic had. Why do the people who make the biggest deal about liberals being snowflakes or whatever, have to be such gigasnowflakes themselves?

"Kneelers hate America and there's an army of linebacker trannies queued up to grope my aunt in the restroom. The "news" told me so!"

I've got sucked into these talks a few times. Whenever I tried to steer the conversation into medical reasons why they think transwomen in female sports may be unfair, it's like I've waded it out of their depth. "What are the advantages you're talking about?" "How are they meaningful?" "What is the current medical thinking?" I'm no doctor either, but I can Google. It seems obvious that they're not that interested in the trans sports thing beyond the most cursory, casual knee-jerk. "Oh sure, I did my research!" how selective was that? Also, you mean you read someone else's "research."

The point I will easily concede is that laws allowing competition in female sports for unmedicated transgender individuals is problematic and a little rough on the whole thing's reputation.

Lots of people do care about sport and fairness in it, on the face of it anyway.

Women's sport is somewhat tokenism from the beginning, if 'men' are allowed to compete in it it makes the whole thing doubly redundant.

The people complaining about trans girls in women's sports would have been mocking women's sports any other time in history. It is all bad faith.

Isn't tokenism what happens when you send a hobbit into Hodor?

Tokenism would be sending a parallel fellowship of 12 women into Mordor without the Ring of Power to prove they could do it just as well.

Sarasota-native and Olympic silver medalist Emma Weyant finished second to Lia Thomas in the 500-yard freestyle event the Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships on Thursday — but not in the eyes of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.

At a news conference Tuesday, Gov. DeSantis announced he would issue a proclamation making Weyant the winner of the NCAA 500-yard freestyle.

"She's been an absolute superstar her whole career, to compete at that level is very difficult. You don't just roll out of bed and do it. That takes grit, that takes determination, and she had the fastest time of any woman in college athletics."
I really hate this closet case governor. He is doing a good job making himself nationally unelectable though. As much as people may not condone men in women's sports, it is not the government's place to take a side.

The attorney general of Texas has declared a school district’s celebration of LGBTQ+ students “sex education” and in violation of Texas law.

For the past eight years, students in the Austin Independent school district have held a district-wide Pride week as a chance to celebrate LGBTQ+ students, staff and families in the district, according to the district’s website.

But on Tuesday, the Texas attorney general, Ken Paxton, sent a letter to the school district calling Pride week “sex education” and notifying the school that without parental consent, the celebration is “breaking state law”.

“The Texas legislature has made it clear that when it comes to sex education, parents – not school districts – are in charge,” said Paxton in his letter shared to Twitter.

“By hosting ‘Pride week’, your district has, at best, undertaken a week-long instructional effort in human sexuality without parental consent,” continued Paxton. “Or, worse, your district is cynically pushing a week-long indoctrination of your students that not only fails to obtain parental consent, but subtly cuts parents out of the loop. Either way, you are breaking state law.”
That's deplorable.

Passaic students hit the streets Monday to protest a new Board of Education policy that prohibits them from raising the LGBTQ+ Pride banner like they did last year.

About 40 students, some draped in the rainbow flag and others wrapped in blankets, marched in the bitter cold to demand the board rescind its policy that allows only the American flag, the state flag and the school flag to be flown. Students stood in front of the city’s three public high schools urging their classmates to join them on the sidewalk – then continued the protest at the board meeting on Monday night.
...
Passaic students hoisted the rainbow flag on school grounds for the first time last June to celebrate Pride month, New Jersey’s recognition of LGBTQ+ people and the struggle for equality. There was no policy in place when the Pride flag went up last year, and some people in Passaic made what board vice chairman L. Daniel Rodriguez termed “inquiries” as to who authorized it.

The board then realized it had no policy on flag raising – and to sidestep the potential for any future controversies, it enacted a blanket ban in November – the exception being the American flag, the New Jersey state flag and any school flag.

The board maintains the policy was adopted in a spirit of fairness. The students say it is discriminatory, and with two months before Pride month, want the board to rescind it.
Only in liberal America is it okay to fly the gay flag but not the Trump flag.

That picture is definitely Burbank. Look at the landscape. According to ballotpedia, Ronda Kennedy is a Californian Republican, with a political science BA.

https://ballotpedia.org/Ronda_Baldwin-Kennedy

Her website invokes MLK, smears Schiff, stumps for Trump.

https://rondakennedy.com

I have questions about her assertion that most people get their health insurance through their jobs. I know a lot of workers do not. From ehealthinsurance last year:

Looks like barely less than 50% overall.

Anyway, huge tangent. Point is, I'm sick of miscaptioned photos in news and social media.

I should add that Disney should still be opposed, though primarily for reasons that they want to Anschluss everything. But the Republicans like that, don't they.
