I think the solution is deregulation because thats the solution to everything.

For the blackhawk thing it seems we've already made it to:

But this is how we've always done it - apart from increasing usage of the airport well beyond design capacity

But we've never had a problem - apart from multiple near-misses including one the day before

Literally no-one could have foreseen this - apart from the multiple people who did foresee it but got howled down

Thank god Trump is a financial genius and can re-order the world and its economy through the simple tool of blunt sanctions.

I mean, having bankrupted his own businesses at least six times (not counting the times his father bailed him out) he must have learnt something along the way right?

Exclusive: Musk aides lock government workers out of computer systems at US agency, sources say
By Tim Reid
January 31, 20252:20 PM PSTUpdated 10 hours ago

Musk, the billionaire Tesla (TSLA.O), opens new tab CEO and X owner tasked by Trump to slash the size of the 2.2 million-strong civilian government workforce, has moved swiftly to install allies at the agency known as the Office of Personnel Management.

The two officials, who spoke to Reuters on condition of anonymity for fear of retaliation, said some senior career employees at OPM have had their access revoked to some of the department's data systems.

The systems include a vast database called Enterprise Human Resources Integration, which contains dates of birth, Social Security numbers, appraisals, home addresses, pay grades and length of service of government workers, the officials said.

"We have no visibility into what they are doing with the computer and data systems," one of the officials said. "That is creating great concern. There is no oversight. It creates real cybersecurity and hacking implications."

Officials affected by the move can still log on and access functions such as email but can no longer see the massive datasets that cover every facet of the federal workforce.

Musk, OPM, representatives of the new team, and the White House did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

OPM has sent out memos that eschew the normal dry wording of government missives as it encourages civil servants to consider buyout offers to quit and take a vacation to a "dream destination."

Don Moynihan, a professor at the Ford School of Public Policy at the University of Michigan, said the actions inside OPM raised concerns about congressional oversight at the agency and how Trump and Musk view the federal bureaucracy.

"This makes it much harder for anyone outside Musk's inner circle at OPM to know what's going on," Moynihan said.

The Egg People, distinct creatures from Pig People, won't be able to understand any of this administrative stuff. Instead of trying to understand it or do the work they will just disregard it. At worse they will default to blaming Democrats/DEI.

...

The Republican party's majority in the House is too slim to pass any major legislation. I don't think they will be able to even pass a tax cut bill through reconciliation.

The Trump administration seems to want to do everything with Executive Orders because they know they can't get anything through Congress in the traditional way. In the meantime Trump and Musk will collapse the Federal government. I would say they plan to rebuild it with their supporters but I don't think it that will happen. It is too hard to rebuild something that big.

Instead everything will get a bit worse collectively until the midterms or Trump gets July 20th.

Q&A with Former Navajo Nation Vice President on Incoming 2nd Trump Administration

What is your reaction to this election?

I was featured on stage at a Trump rally in Albuquerque last week. I had just two, three minutes to really bring hope, provide encouragement, and let President Trump know that Indian Country is out there, and we have a lot of valid issues. We have a lot of history of the government failing us, and broken promises, broken treaties.

Have you been contacted by the Trump team soliciting your advice?

Yes, the contact is ongoing, collaborative, and, of course, I’m trying to garner more attention for all of our issues, all the plights of Indian Country. To recite a part of my speech in Albuquerque last week, the left wing and the right wing are of the same bird.

I fully expected Trump to win. Seeing the tide turn, and then it was revealed in those numbers. Even though we are 1 percent of the voting block in this great United States, 64 percent of the Native American voted red, voted for President Trump.

Biden-Harris, to their credit, they advanced Indian Country a lot. And now Trump can advance. They are in queue. Now it's their time. We need one another, getting messaging and policy recommendations, getting rid of the hierarchy of layers and layers of federal bureaucracy that has stymied advancement in Indian Country.

We have the land, we have the resources, if the federal government would let us tap into them more readily, we are sovereign. Who out there would use our sovereignty? Who would like to use our sovereignty as an unfair or a competitive advantage? That's what I'm interested in. Those are the discussions that I'm pursuing currently.

Have you been offered a position in Trump's administration?

There's been hints of it from various respectable and good sources. I'm standing there ready for what may come. I will be a strong advocate for Indian Country.

Reports of Navajo people being detained in immigration sweeps sparks concern from tribal leaders
The DOJ argued in court that Indigenous people don’t have birthright citizenship under the 14th Amendment, so neither should children of noncitizens born in the US

As U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement intensifies its efforts to apprehend and deport undocumented immigrants throughout the country, concern is rising among Indigenous communities residing in urban areas about reports of Indigenous people being detained in the Valley.

Since President Donald Trump issued his executive order for an increase in ICE raids, Navajo tribal leaders have received alarming reports that their tribal members are being detained, heightening uncertainties over the implications these actions have for their communities and the safety of their people.

“We now know that Navajo people and enrolled members of other tribes are being detained in Phoenix and other cities by ICE,” Navajo Nation Council Speaker Crystalyne Curley said during a committee meeting on Thursday. “The reports that we have received indicate that we need to coordinate an operation or some type of response to help our enrolled tribal members here on the Navajo Nation.”

the problem is that the democrats have taken the vote of these groups for granted for quite a while now. even if they're voting to spite themselves, evidently they have become tired of being the pet minority or token feelgood demographic. i can see why a lot of african american or latin or native or arab or whatever voting blocs would prefer the more straight-shootin' form of republican motherfucker. at least they're open and unabashed with their racism.

in retrospect, having a number of dem senators professing their indian heritage after a navajo pubic hair got into their genealogy in 1873 was probably not the best optics.

true, but it seems like a daring gambit jumping from the democrats, who hold you in barely concealed disdain, to the republicans. in 2024.

MAGA is a bigger and more open political movement than whatever the Democrats are offering.

Let that sink in for a moment. All you need to do is wear the hat and say Trump is great and they will add you to the Latinos for Trump or Blacks for Trump group. The MAGA people have constant rallies, parties and events.

I am involved in organizing for the Democrat labor groups in what is supposed to be the center of gravity for Democrats in NJ, a blue state. The Democrat party is totally closed off. My only on is through the teacher Union. Otherwise they don't hold events or rallies. They don't do outreach or any of that. It is because the Italian and Irish politicians who run the Democrat machine in our blue state do not want to open it up. They are afraid they will lose control of it. They rather sit at the top of a minority party than be a supporting member of a winning coalition.

And frankly, the whole Democrat machine in our area is made up of Italian, and Irish older people. The Hispanic and Arabs which now makes up the majority of the population are shut out. No wonder MAGA made inroads with that group. The Italians and Irish won't even invite us to the party.
