It's money, don't overthink it. Biden isn't ideological about anything. 'Meh, neutral' was his 2020 platform. Biden the catholic?
War is expensive? The fuck? I'll let Dick Cheney know.
why is biden’s catholicity important? have you been living in a cave? there’s a huge tendency of american christians to support zionism. there’s even a wing of evangelism that believes israel will help bring the return of christ.
biden has spoken explicitly about his belief in the zionist project. he has spoken about the influence that meeting israeli figures had on him as a junior senator. catholicism has nothing to do with it.
https://www.nytimes.com/2023/10/28/us/p … -gaza.htmlOver the course of his career, he has traveled to Israel seven times as a senator, three times as vice president and now twice as president. He has met every prime minister since Golda Meir. His passion for the Jewish state has been evident that a fellow senator years ago called him “the only Catholic Jew.” A longtime Israeli official more recently called him “the first Jewish president.” He embraces Jewish nationalism. “You don’t have to be a Jew to be a Zionist,” he often says.
war is expensive for a nation in many ways. reputational as well as economic. the sums involved in supplying arms to israel are not worth it. the same biden admin that just printed a trillion dollars in post-covid stimulus is desperate to sell iron dome resupplies to israel? come on now.
if the profit of the war is such a great incentive, why is the donald - the supreme example of the businessman president - nixing it in day one? this is a man who constantly threatens NATO allies because they’re not ‘paying enough’. a man who wants to ‘do a deal for greenland’. the economic argument is almost all he sees.
think you may need to go back to the drawing board on this one. talking conspiratorially about halliburton profits doesn’t explain shit. it barely explained the second iraq war either.
claiming the richest country on earth will risk censure by the international criminal court, seriously damaging america’s credibility as a global paragon of human rights, rules-based order, etc., in the process for a piffling sum of money to flatten gaza … i ask you again how that makes any sense. ideology absolutely fills the gap.
