Marine Lt. Col. Stuart Scheller on Sunday announced in a video that he was resigning his commission as a lieutenant colonel in the Marine Corps, following being fired as a battalion commander for asking for accountability from his senior leadership on the botched Afghanistan withdrawal.

In his original video, posted Thursday after the deaths of 13 service members, including one he knew personally, he said, “I want to say this very strongly. I have been fighting for 17 years. I am willing to throw it all away to say to my senior leaders I demand accountability.”

He announced in his video on Sunday, after the enormous outpouring of support and debate over his video, that he was resigning his commission as an officer in the Marine Corps — short of the 20 years needed to be eligible for lifelong retirement and medical benefits.

Most of the pig people on Brietbart were supportive of the guy for blowing up his life. One commenter with a military background said the guy sounded like he needed counseling. His follow up video was filled with curse words and filmed in an abandoned bus in the woods. I would not be surpirsed if his loved ones find him there dead soon.

Anyhow, today is a very special day. I now understand "owning the libs". Biden owned the Republicans so hard by withdrawing from Afghanistan without any backpaddling.

I'm a 20 year Army veteran. Two tours each in Iraq and Afghanistan, plus a year in Kosovo. My social media feeds right now are absolutely poisonous with rage. I've spoken with over a dozen guys that I served with in the last two weeks. They've been reaching out to me, and to each other, trying to make sense of this. This betrayal takes things to a whole new level.

I overheard a guy at work saying Joe Biden should be impeached for ... whatever he did regarding Afghanistan. Then asked the lady near him if she ever heard of Benghazi, cause this is like multiple Benghazis, clearly. He must think we need like 30 Congressional hearings about it.

There is nothing Biden could have done to mollify some of these people. They were gearing up to smear him as a Democrat warmonger if he backed out of Trump's deal and stayed. When he backed out of Afghanistan instead, I think they slipped a gear.

Didn't we have a chance to get OBL early, but the Bush administration let it slip? We could've been out of Afghanistan barely as we got there, and then we wouldn't have multiple generations of combat veterans feeling betrayed.

I spoke to a likely trump voter (don't know for sure) who said we didn't "actually" lose in Vietnam. Yes. Yes we did lose in Vietnam.

Joe Biden is the most uncucked president of my lifetime. Got on t.v. and defended leaving Afghanistan.
Biden was defending a decision that has drawn scrutiny for its chaotic execution that undercut his promise to restore competence to government. His speech, delivered in an impassioned tone that revealed flashes of anger toward his critics, offered no apology for how the war ended.

Instead, Biden said the real choice in Afghanistan was "between leaving and escalating," framing his call to withdraw troops as the only option aside from surging more forces to the country. He suggested that the humbling end to the war, with the Taliban back in control after trillions of dollars and thousands of lives were spent ousting them, was the fault of decisions made long ago.

"I was not going to extend this forever war, and I was not extending a forever exit," he said, casting aside arguments that leaving some troops in the country was a feasible way to keep the Taliban at bay.

It's hard to not think that between Trump and Biden both, the exit from Afghanistan should have been handled better. Civilian personnel and at-risk Afghan collaborators (shared shame, btw) who wanted to leave with their families should have been extracted while we had a military presence. And on the Biden administration's part, a mistake paying attention to maybe the rosiest takes on Afghanistan gov't's, military's ability to hold its ground. There should probably be an investigation into the scrubbing and rewrite orders on reports from trainers who were less than enthused. A day on the internet watching those could have at least planted the seeds of doubt.

I think Biden has been pretty up front about biting the bullet on getting out, but maybe we shouldn't have run up so close to the deadline. The war being the fault of decisions made long ago is kind of a flaccid excuse.

The root of the problem is Pakistan wasn't pressured over the last 20 years into stopping givinf support and safe haven to the Taliban, and Trump did a deal with the Taliban which the Afghan govt weren't even consulted on.

If Biden had had balls he would have torn up the deal and maintained the status quo, it would have taken 0.4% of US active service members, the other 99.6% could have continued sitting on their asses in bases like Jay hoped he was going to.

The end of the war has really stirred up the cobwebs. Threads firing up or reviving about the war in Afghanistan, long since forgotten or relegated to the bottom of the topic heap by some circles.

Biden inherited Trump's mess, coronavirus, and 20 years of Afghanistan. It's an uphill struggle. He showed balls going ahead and leaving. I think it's fair to be critical of his administration's confidence in Afghanistan and its military regardless of what his predecessor thought. Speaking of which, always nice to have an ex-president breathing down the neck of a sitting president, on something that was partially the ex's fault to begin with.

Biden's approval rating dropping is also one of the predictable effects of a president not being able to wave their hand and make a pandemic and economic crisis go away in a few months.

Everyone knew the Afghan National Army was going to lose to the Taliban. What was up for debate was how long it would take. I expected less than 10 years not 10 days.

Approval ratings barely matter anymore. 50ish% is the modern norm. And elections are determined by who is running against who in whatever particular race more than anything.

I don't know why this became about social justice vigilantism here? Identifying a violent, masked insurrectionist among many the FBI is asking for tips on is not quite the same thing as getting cancelled on social media because of an off-color remark you made five years ago? Social justice vigilantism probably has more in common with the Texas anti-abortion secret police, which was why I brought it up.

Irony is I imagine many of these people were all like "don't do the crime if you can't do the time" in 2020.

where have i ever spoken in favour of cancel culture? don’t think i’ve called for anyone to be cancelled.

cops being brought to justice for murdering black people. yes.

capital rioters who broke into government buildings, leading to the death of multiple police, yes (fyi a few of my friends were involved in the student protests, they stormed tory party hq, and were rightly legally punished for it).

i’ve never condoned doxxing someone or dragging their social media to have them cancelled or fired because they have the ‘wrong opinions’. you are utterly deluded and a twat.

Trump did some boxing commentary on 9/11. He sat with a bunch of fighters, his son, and celebrities' in a booth talking about the boxing matches they just watched. Actually did an okay job.

I don't fault anyone who has Trump on to do something like this. Can you imagine how nice it must feel to have Trump stand there and tell everyone how great and special you personally are?

I saw a comment on social media expressing gratitude that he wasn't at the presidents' event to sully the solemnity of the 9-11 stuff.
