The Chinese don't have any plans for the sort of interventionist global foreign policy of the U.S. and Soviet Union. I think it will be a long time before there are any people in charge of that place who don't remember how well that turned out for the U.S. and Soviet Union. I also believe that their cultural makeup doesn't encourage globalist intervention. By the time the U.S. came to global empire, westerners had already colonized and conquered throughout the rest of the world. The U.S. looked at all of that as extensions of itself once it became clear the Europeans could no longer manage it all. Chinese people aren't spread across the world in varying collections of states for the CCP to lord over. I think the Chinese government will be happy to sit secure in East Asia/Western Pacific and have people visit them to beg for loans.

Perhaps we could re-educate them with wholesome christian music, I think it would solve a lot of problems.

President-elect Joe Biden has hairline fractures in his "mid-foot" and will "likely require a walking boot for several weeks," his doctor said in a statement Sunday, after Biden slipped while playing with his dog, Major, Saturday.
...
Biden, who celebrated his 78th birthday on November 20, is set to be the oldest president in US history.

Well there's a real possibility he might die during the presidency. His parents lived to 85 and 95 but they weren't under the constant stress that a presidency brings. He'll be 86 or 87 at the end of a second term too...

no one thinks biden is making full two terms. even he has spoken in vague and dithering terms about a re-election. he probably doesn’t have the appetite for it himself.

Biden dies during his first term, Kamala becomes president then gets defeated in the 2024 election, and the Dems are back to promoting Buttigieg as their singluar hope for the next 20 years.

Kamala might actually be the first president to lose a primary.

humbling stuff. trump is indeed dangerous. good riddance to these crooks.

seeing a life-long republican with a record of public service on the brink of tears talking about his work should tell you all you need to know about how fucking low the current republican leadership has sank.

This QAnon stuff is a trip. Can you imagine going through life genuinely believing there is a a child sacrifice cult headed by Joe Biden? How does anyone even get to the point where they think their political enemies are literally eating babies?

At that point it's more of a mental illness. Quite a few people with psychotic disorders around who may seem normal. Back in the day it'd be the crazy dude at the end of the street but now he and others like him congregate on the internet.

I think you can't disregard the amount of misinformation, half truths and outright lies that have been spread over the past 20 years, and yes, the amplifying properties of social media.

The Justice Department is investigating a potential crime related to funneling money to the White House or related political committee in exchange for a presidential pardon, according to court records unsealed Tuesday in federal court.

The case is the latest legal twist in the waning days of President Donald Trump's administration after several of his top advisers have been convicted of federal criminal charges and as the possibility rises of Trump giving pardons to those who've been loyal to him.
Via: CNN. I got a NYT alert earlier about Trump discussing with advisors about preemptively pardoning his children, Rudy, and son in law. The attorney general who is also a Trump loyalist also came out today and went on the record saying there was no election fraud. So it looks like things are not going well for blah blah blah. I just wish Biden was in office already.

In my experience boomers seem particularly vulnerable to it. I couldn't tell you the amount of BS forwards I've gotten. "Hmm! That's interesting, I'd like to see some corroborating sources" usually stumps them.

Former Trump 2020 campaign manager Brad Parscale said during his Fox News interview Tuesday night on “The Story” that he pushed for President Donald Trump to show more public empathy about the coronavirus pandemic, which Parscale believes would have resulted in a landslide win.

Parscale said, “One, two percent — suburban men and women we lost in the suburbs, Philly suburbs, Atlanta suburbs I think that goes to one thing, a decision on COVID to go for opening the economy first is public empathy. I think a young family with a young child who were scared to take them back to school wanted to see an empathetic president and an empathetic Republican Party. I think that and I said this multiple times, he chose a different path. I don’t think he was wrong with this, I love him, but we had a difference on this. I thought we should have public empathy. I think people are scared. I walked around people and watched them walk around me, not like two years ago because I’m Brad Parscale but walk around me because I have a mask on, and they don’t want COVID. I can see waitresses standing a little farther from the table. People are scared. I think if he would have been publicly empathetic, he would have won by a landslide. He could have leaned into it instead of run away from it.”
Article about Trump's former 2020 campaign manager from Breitbart. He argues that Trump could have won if he showed empathy for people during the pandemic. Brietbart's comment section reaction? "Trump won in a landslide. The democrats faked the election".

the inhumanity of trump and the white house over covid is really astounding, when you think about it. we are living through a total national calamity, approaching a 9/11 every day, and the president is actively aggravating the issue.

i also saw another news story that trump 'considers a covid vaccine his greatest legacy'.

FUCKING LOL.

I have a toothache I have been meaning to see a dentist for. The dentist I go to is a Republican who makes her patients watch Fox News with her on the little TVs attached to the dental chair. I don't want to go see her because she is probably a Trump supporter. I am not avoiding seeing her because I resent her politics. I don't want to sit there with a person who probably is a COVID denier and give her direct access to my lungs.

I guess he's already restarting elements of his business that were mothballed? I imagine even if he somehow pulled victory from the clutches of defeat, he wouldn't cancel those during his second term.

Go see another dentist then? I'm mostly loyal to mine because of the (still spendy) in-house insurance package.

Same issue mostly. Giving a stranger easy access to your vape scarred COVID adapters? Not anytime soon.

I mean you don't have to walk in blind, go see what other patients have to say. Gotta be better than your maybe Trump fan dentist who might be one of those outlier health workers who thinks covid is fake.
