the manifesto is still based in dialectical materialism. it has a radically different conception of the forces of history than hegel, who was still in many ways converting christian theology into history with the rest of the german idealists. marx and engels had their noses to the floor from the very start, mindful of the fact that circumstances determine change. but hey ho.
I accept that, I reckon he would've been better off just treating it as a hypothesis going into kapital rather than publish the manifesto with such certainty after some drunken political discussions and chess games with engels.

I've been hearing a lot about people preparing for unrest and looting on election day, which is frankly baffling to me as to what would necessarily cause it. I have no doubt there will be some peaceful demonstrations regardless of the ressult, and I suppose it technically is possible in small groups, but I don't see what would precipitate it at all unless Trump did something super undemocratic. There's not even the same tenuous link one could make like one could've to BLM earlier. One of the things I read postulated that violence is likely if some people feel the election is being stolen, which does concern me with regard to right-wingers. So many have absolute certainty Trump will win in spite of the evidence (and contrary to how Biden voters feel), but they have also been primed for years to believe that the only way Dems win is through cheating.
I really hope I'm not wrong, but one of the business owners interviewed in Chicago prepping for it basically said "it's 2020 and anything could happen."

as far as actual politics are concerned, i think anyone, of whatever stripe or ideology, could legitimately vote against trump just on his handling of covid-19 alone. for the world's richest and most advanced nation to also do the absolute worst, by quite some margin, at a pandemic response, is just beyond galling. you should never become desensitized to that death toll. it is a national tragedy and a political farce. he deserves to get the 'you're fired!' treatment for that and that alone. fuck everything else. a quarter of a million americans have died because of that clown.
