Of course Bush's loss is a bit more in depth than going back on his no new taxes line.

this is democratic.

The depressed pig men did her a favor.
Six staffers working on President Donald Trump's rally in Tulsa, Oklahoma, have tested positive for coronavirus, the Trump campaign said Saturday.

Just hours before the President is expected to arrive in the state, Trump campaign communications director Tim Murtaugh said in a statement that "per safety protocols, campaign staff are tested for COVID-19 before events. Six members of the advance team tested positive out of hundreds of tests performed, and quarantine procedures were immediately implemented."

They had to cancel half of the Trump rally due to low attendance. The stadium is more than half empty inside.

Hopefully he'll make all the mistakes crooked Hillary made, massaging his base and forgetting to pander to the middle.

Ironically the Trump campaign did her a huge favor with this visibility.

I can't wait to hear low attendance either blamed on people being afraid of antifa terrorists, or that the numbers are fake news and the place was packed with silent majority.

I am reading John Bolton's book that leaked online. I am only 30 pages in of this 600 pager. So far he is explaining the organizational chaos of the first 100 days of Trump's presidency and the issues staffing it. Bolton doesn't have anything good to say about Clinton but mentioned that she had prepared to staff the adminstration beforehand and would have done well organizing it. Even if you think Clinton is a Karen, you need to admit that she would have led a better organized machine.

In a way I guess that's still saying something good about Clinton, but over a bar partially embedded into the floor from going on four years of the president standing on it.

more from ex-M16 guy christopher steele, testifying before MPs.

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/ … ele-claims

Boris Johnson and Theresa May ignored claims the Kremlin had a “likely hold” over Donald Trump and may have covertly funded Brexit, the former spy Christopher Steele alleges in secret evidence given to MPs who drew up the Russia report.

In testimony to MPs, the MI6 veteran accused the government led by May and in which Johnson was foreign secretary for two years of turning a blind eye to allegations about Trump because they were afraid of offending the US president.

Steele first presented a dossier about Trump to senior UK intelligence figures in late 2016, who he says took it seriously at first. But, he writes, “on reaching top political decision-makers, a blanket appeared to be thrown over it”.

Trump suspends entry of certain foreign workers despite business opposition
https://www.yahoo.com/finance/news/trum … 37304.html

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump suspended the entry into the United States of certain foreign workers on Monday, a move the White House said would help the coronavirus-battered economy, but which business groups strongly oppose.

Trump issued a presidential proclamation that temporarily blocks foreign workers entering on H-1B https://graphics.reuters.com/USA-IMMIGR … pg/h1b.jpg visas, which are for skilled employees, and L visas, for managers and specialized workers being transferred within a company. Trump also blocked those entering on H-2B seasonal worker visas, which are used by landscapers and other industries.
One of the comments puts it cleverly:

Just stop counting the number of visas being issued, that will slow down immigration.

We should just be thankful we didn't let that Karen Hillary Clinton into the White House. I mean we would probably have less deaths from COVID and a better economy but the right wing would have started a civil war by now because Pizza Gate-COVID conspiracy theories.

In Arizona, Trump has a redo of his Oklahoma rally
https://www.yahoo.com/news/arizona-trum … 33461.html

PHOENIX — After a disappointing showing at his campaign rally over the weekend, President Donald Trump renewed his performance for a packed crowd of students on Tuesday, telling his Arizona audience that they were guardians in a cultural war over the heritage of the country.

“We’re here today to declare that we will never cave to the left wing and the left-wing intolerance,”
the president said at a Students for Trump event in Phoenix.

The appearance, at the Dream City megachurch, was one of his first rallies since taking a three-month hiatus because of the coronavirus pandemic. Images from the event showed a large crowd tightly packed together, with almost no one wearing protective masks. There were no temperature checks for the estimated 3,000 cheering attendees who, like many of Trump’s staunchest fans, ignored a new local ordinance requiring them to wear a mask, despite a public-health plea from the Democratic mayor on Monday.

The coronavirus is out of control in the Grand Canyon State after its governor lifted a stay-at-home order last month, and the president is polling relatively poorly here against his presumptive Democratic rival, former Vice President Joe Biden.

Also stuff in there for the pandemic thread.

Biden Takes Dominant Lead as Voters Reject Trump on Virus and Race

A New York Times/Siena College poll finds that Joseph R. Biden Jr. is ahead of the president by 14 points, leading among women and nonwhite voters and cutting into his support with white voters.
Biden 50%
Trump 36%
Undecided 14%

Don't trust the polls yadda yadda but it is interesting. Clinton never broke 50%. Her final tally was 48% while Trump got 46%.

The election is less than 5 months away. In the next 5 months Trump needs to stop COVID, fix the economy, hope the protesters go overboard or get bored, and pray nothing else happens.

I would rate Joe Biden's chances as much higher than Clinton. Just as a person he is more likable than Clinton. He is not as scattered brain as people think. He did really well in the Bernie debates. The whole friendly grandpa thing is somewhat endearing too. Besides with COVID going on he will just be able to avoid doing rallies.

It really reminds me of president Harding's election in 1920 I think. He promised a "return to normalcy" and campaigned from his front porch. He didn't travel around. Biden can reach a lot more people from his basement isolation bunker than Harding. And Trump is a monster who will continue to fail.

Plan B: incite tensions so succesfully he can implement martial law and postpone the elections.

Though I don't expect Trump is in any way intelligent enough to figure that out. In his mind he's still winning.

Trump doesn't have power over the elections. The states run their elections. He could ask state legislators to postpone elections but no one would do so. The big worry we have is that he will just refuse to acknowledge the election as legitimate and will not leave office.

I remember reading a thought experiment about some such situation trying to figure out who would be in control in the absence of an election/results. From the order of succession it would go through Trump/Pence/Pelosi etc..., but all Representatives and 1/3 of Senators couldn't technically be seated because they wouldn't have won that term, so through some arithmetic of who remains, they arrived that the likeliest Senate President Pro Tem as Pat Leahy.
