I don't understand the people who go to these political rallies looking to fight the other side. I mean I can understand the young college students looking for fights because kids are dumb and don't think things through. But the middle aged people who show up to fight antifa are strange to me.

No, they don't. Liberals took their jobs through obstructive regulations, and now they feel worthless because they are on the dole. Fighting college aged kids helps them feel like they are contributing to society.
They are worthless, in fact they're less than worthless bearing in mind how much debt they've lumbered the average college aged kids of today with.

I don’t think anyone who’s business legacy is borrowing incredible sums of money, looting his own companies for personal profit and endless litigation (to name a few) is pretending to be a fiscal conservative.

Has anyone talked to Trump supporters they know in real life about the GOP healthcare and tax plan? I don't see how your average Joe can sign off on huge tax cuts for the wealthy in these times.
I only come in contact with two Trump voters regularly, my dad and a teaching assistant who is probably older than him. My dad opposes almost all of Trump's policies but this other guy seems to be pretty cool with most of it as long as Trump fucks over Mexicans and Muslims. I wonder how much that sentiment can hold out.

I have a friend who is a die hard Trumpo. Only gets his news from INFOWARS and Breitbart (I wish I was joking). His parents are first generation Americans from South America. He is all-in on Trump, and because of his news feeds, any attempt at walking him back to rationality is an attempt to slander or obfuscate the REAL issues. Dude is fucking brainwashed and it's sad to see and I'm angry just typing this.
Here's how fucking out of touch he is, and how much of an echo chamber the aforementioned sites are - he had NO CLUE about the Russian influence-peddling, attempts to sway the election, Russian propaganda tools, etc. Those sites simply don't discuss it. He was completely in the dark about it. When I tried to rationalize with him about Alex Jones, I was told I was resorting to slander. When it came out that Alex Jones admitted to being a "performance artist" in his custody battle, he wanted proof in the form of a video of Alex Jones saying as much.
I've known this guy since we were 12 years old. I consider him a good friend. We've lost him, folks.

I've read columns by George Will and Glenn Reynolds in the last few days championing getting rid of the mortgage interest deduction and the deduction for State taxes. It's something that has been in the American tax system since before i was born and is one of the primary incentives for home ownership. People bought their homes with the incentive as a variable in their decision. They can get rid of it going forward but it's not fair to pull it away unless current homeowners are grandfathered.Cybargs wrote:
