Nah. Forget what you learned in physics class, none of the classroom stuff ever takes wind resistance into account. It could possibly crack your skull if you got hit with a spent round, but you're not likely to die otherwise. .22 shouldn't be a problem, 9mm or 7,62 would be getting dicey.
People have been killed by .50 musket balls fired straight up in American Mutiny/July 4 celebrations, and IIRC people have been killed by 20mm cartridge cases ejected from aircraft.
