i'm looking for something more like an all-round derby/casual shoe, rather than an actual boot per se.

i have desert boots for the boot profile. i actually have no need for 'real' boots. i don't hike or work on a site.

lots of my friends are pretty mad about those red wings things.

I was supposed to take a 3 day wilderness survival class the first weekend of may, but the class got cancelled. I'm sure now with the whole pandemic thing the class will fill up really quickly. I need a pair of boots for the class, but i don't think red wings are appropriate. I want lightweight, waterproof boots.

i know nuzzink about hiking or outdoor boots. jogging or running gear i could help with. i have some nice trail shoes. but i wouldn't want to be stuck up a mountain in a dropping windchill temperature with them on.

I've been impressed by the Caribous I've worn in snow and very rainy conditions. Feet stay warm and dry. Would definitely recommend for use out and about around the ol' ski lodge when you aren't wearing the hard plastics.

Waterproof boots make my feet sweat tremendously.

I highly, highly recommend KEEN. Better than Merrell.

I exist firmly in reality. As such, I am in no way preparing for a zombie apocalypse. I just want to get proficient in wilderness survival since I...like being in the wilderness and want to spend more time there.

I will never willingly eat MREs or freeze-dried food unless there is no other option. Been there, done that, not for me.

Oatmeal in the morning, pasta at night. Cheap, light, efficient.
