Intersectionality is the idea that people can have spheres of privilege and spheres of discrimination that sometimes intersect with each other and between groups. I am a brown guy and face discrimination in some circumstances but privilege in others. I am a guy and I have privilege in some areas and discrimination in others. A white guy has privileges in some areas and discrimination in others. Sometimes someone's especially from traditionally discriminated against groups privilege is someone else's discrimination. The intersection. What intersectionality is all about is figuring about how these affect people and events and how we can balance this. Example:
#MeToo ladies say that all women's accusations should be believed outright. Meanwhile black guys can point out that false rape accusations from white girls have led to their lynching and murder in the past. These two separate social justice issues intersect. Whose claim is more important? What should be done? The field of study is there to figure it out.
