I don't think there's a human alive who could match that chin without copious amounts of facial prosthetics. Casting race for anime is a bit of a Choose Your Own Adventure, isn't it? Things can sometimes be a little ambiguous.

I've never watched Cowboy Bebop, that I know of. Maybe I saw a clip or two. I remember people were really upset about the live action Dragon Ball, but I haven't seen that either.

So I remember people being mad because they thought Goku should be Asian. Except he's an alien. Spot on being upset with the big green alien. Where's the antennae? The bombastic outfit with a shoulder pad wingspan?

Did Goku ever even go to school in the anime?

e: Admittedly, being too faithful to the original might be problematic nowadays. Handsy old men wouldn't go over well.

i don't know enough about the original anime to really comment.

re: hollywood audiences and western expectations, the recent boom in korean cinema (parasite, train to busan, minari, etc) has shown that there's definitely an appetite for it. to say nothing of the literally global and world-beating success of squid game and other k-dramas. this stuff is big and there is no excuse anymore for western audiences to demand brad pitt, tom cruise, leo dicaprio or george clooney in every leading actor role.

cinéastes and people in the know in the west have no trouble admitting the all-time greatness of directors like kurosawa and his samurai epics. why can't anime adaptations keep their asian casts, in a similar vein? they're not exactly leagues away from such original movies.





stuff of this merit and quality certainly doesn't need laundering with a white cast in a questionable 'remake'.

The Magnificent Seven was a worthy film.

"An attempt was made" capitalizing on nerd nostalgia, but their finger isn't on the pulse. Explanation probably applies to other kinds of bad remakes as well. Personally I would prefer a bad remake (that I could easily ignore) over a horrible dub I might watch on accident. Unless the dub was funny.

I imagine the live action Dragon Ball got more showings than the actual animated Dragon Ball movies that are still being made, lol. Was it in theaters?

The face he made in photos seemed to have no more an apt descriptor than Macbeth's "pig man". I finally brought myself to watch the footage of his fake crying and it really seems more like he's trying to stifle a sneeze. It's unfortunate he's going to walk with his "legal, but immoral" actions and then remain a cause celebre amongst the right wingers. Probably gonna write a shitty book and go on speaking tours.

I was a pro-gun conservative at 17 too. But I didn't go around looking for protests and picking fights or "defending businesses" or whatever in the aim to try and position myself into being the next Roof Korean type get a human life under my belt like the Predator. He has a certain responsibility. My interest in his parents or the politics of his upbringing is quite limited.

The whole thing is retarded, retarded 17 year-olds shouldn't be walking around with AR15s, people shouldn't be running around with 'Medic' hats and waving handguns.

That's what annoys me about their whole "good guy with a gun" fantasy is that it doesn't even prevent shootings, but theoretically can cut them shorter. Maaaaaaaaaaaayyyyybe there's a disincentive to start shit if everyone in the world was open-carrying, but that's not the sort of knife-edge world I wanna live in, not to mention that people still get drunk/get angry in the course of everyday life.

It all starts at home. The mother must be punished for her sins. Gluttony, sloth, and lust for starters. Where is the father? Why is it always single parent households with these people?
