Nobody here wants to write an essay properly explaining what is happening. We have professors to write those essays for. Beyond this, if we were qualified to debate philosophy to any reasonable degree, we might. As it stands, Jay can barely understand Marxism, let alone Hegel. We come here for a cheap laugh, to debate topics and say things you wouldn't consider normally, and to generally just stop thinking for a few minutes.

Accept that the world isn't about solving a higher truth to 99% of the population. It's about phatic speech (How are you today?), and trying to not die. This forum is not a bastion of the greatest minds in the world. This might be revelatory to you, given that you post pictures of space all day and speak about the greatness of cultures that were trying to find something to distract them from the death all around them. Here's the clincher: that's exactly what we do here, without ornament.

I am actually taking a class about Western philosophy this semester. I have a retardedly huge stack of books for it. I will post it in the book thread later.

Speaking of books I am taking a class about exploration this time and last semester had a class on precolonial Africa so if you stay around Superior Mind I am going to dump the books on you since they seem to be up your alley. I can list a few of them if you would like?

The only full thing I have read was " ibn battuta in black Africa". It was his full trip from Egypt to the horn of Africa and Mali. I read bits and parts of his work related to other places but nothing full. I can give you the black Africa book.

i don't contribute seriously to philosophy threads in d&st because philosophy is what i do basically professionally, and i honestly do not think anyone else on this forum (literally no one) is up to the professional-formal standards of rigorous philosophical debate. instead you get people like jay using the term 'philosophy' as some pop-culture umbrella term, in the same way 'philosophy' is used to designate sections of book stores that contain 'magic crystals' and 'astrology' books by quack-mediums, in order to give his tired polemic gun/drug/islam/war debates a high-class veneer. none of that shit is philosophy. at best, d&st is a place for people like jay to recycle and reiterate whatever they read/received last, as pure ideology/dogma, and then feel self-satisfied and smug about their 4-paragraph act of rephrasing someone else's ideas.

and sup, don't kid yourself. your pseudo-deep new age spiritualist bullshit is just stuff you've received verbatim from your own petty spare-time reading lists. don't act like you're this enlightened one coming here to try and unearth some grand truths or profound meaning. at the end of the day those deep and meaningful universe-pondering books you read are just so much artifice for bored stoners and otherwise-unemployable anthropologists to fuss over. don't over-privilege your position whilst complaining about a perceived egotism on this forum.
