I wouldn't eat sushi in Cincinnati either!

Good sushi is exceptionally delicious. It helps to have sensitive pallet.

NYc is fortunately a sushi hub. The best place I'm my neighborhood is really good, but the best places in manhattan are way next level.

The most legit sushi eating experience I had was at Sushi Seki. They have the whole one chef thing who decides what you eat.

First year in Brisbane I worked at a hotel, the ~400 people staff party was a massive buffet but the entre was table service. They brought out dinner plates of prawns and a dozen bugs. I sat there and ate so much seafood I was too full for the buffet

My ex worked at Brisbane's best seafood restaurant. She couldn't bring herself to try one, said they look like a prehistoric cockroach, lol.

When they serve them up they're cut in half, like you would serve up a lobster.

my rule about seafood is: if it looks like something we weren't ever designed to encounter, natively, in the wild, 10,000+ years ago... i ain't eating it. that moreton bay bug thing (i just looked it up) looks like something that survived the dinosaur apocalypse, by chilling out down on the seabed, 40 fathoms deep. if my pre-historical ass wasn't herding/farming it, or chasing it around on a plain somewhere, or perhaps even, at a stretch, fishing it up with a spear or rudimentary net in shallow waters/rivers... fucking allow it. it's a freak contrivance of modern technology that we even encounter this stuff. good protein or not, it looks like something you'd find living on one of your hair follicles, magnified and blown-up by a scale of about 2000.

The first couple times I tried it was on a plate, cut in half and cooked with a bunch of prawns, scallops and other assorted seafood on the plate. So basically it looked like meat in a shell, similar to crab or lobster. It was only later I actually saw what they look like whole. Kinda creepy but I had already developed a taste for them.

When it's served like this it is no stranger than eating other seafood.

Hard to describe. Slightly sweet and a bit like a cross between a prawn and a crab, but nicer. They're one of those flavours that if you like it, you love it, or at least that seems to be the general consensus among people I've spoken with about them.

Moreton Bay Bug (left) and Balmain Bug (right)

Moreton bay is more common up north, Balmain more so down south.

Also Australian and American Lobster are not the same.
