- Why would we buy Battlefield 2142?
Well Dice moved there better coders onto 2142, and left Dice Canada (worse) to do the patch, so it's basically 2 different groups of people doing the game/patch. Correct me if I'm wrong.

He has a point, but it's only a 50 dollar game that you bought over a year ago and for most of us have played since. It's not a car, it's not a house, it's not insurance, it's not cable television... no, it's a video game, which is completely playable with the exception of a few bugs. I still play it as well as I ever had, and I never let 1.3 ruin my life.
Why would I buy 2142? Cause it looks cool. I bought CoD, United Offensive, CoD2, BF1942, BF Vietnam, and BF2 and for the most part every other video game I own because it looked fun to play. Even with the worst video games I've bought, at worse, it's been mild gameplay. Sure, there were disappointments, like with CoD2, and BF Vietnam, but they are still very playable games despite major drawbacks. I know I will like BF2142, because it brings tons of new options to the table and many people are saying it's good. It's a video game, not a politician, not a car. So I don't care if the game is worse than expected, and I end up totally sucking up to EA/Dice. It's not my life, it's for entertainment. Chill people. It's 50 bucks, you talk about it like it's some kind of politician that will ruin our lives if he gets elected.

Yeah, DICE sure made EA look bad, I am dissipointed, but the gameplay in the Battlefield series has always been top notch and I understand that this is a hard game to code. Sure, I hate the random crashes too, but the gameplay keeps everyone coming back, does it not?

I dislike EA and how poorly they support their games. Ever played Need For Speed Underground along with its sequel and Need For Speed Most Wanted? Notice how the multiplayer is absolute shit. The cars do not move smoothly at all and there are shit loads of hackers. Jittery cars passing and hackers having infinite nitrous and going 2000 km/h is not cool. When you bump into somebody who's all jittery and shit, you lose speed, but then the car you just bumped into warps away and YOU LOSE SPEED BUT NOTHING HAPPENS TO THE PERSON YOU JUST BUMPED INTO. What does EA do? They release 1 patch that fixes some minor issue and then a couple weeks later, you see on the game's offical site "Unfortunately we have decided to drop support for Need For Speed Most Wanted/Underground/Underground 2." and their excuse is some stupid shit like "Due to lack of manpower and resources." Bull fucking shit, you're the biggest and most powerful god damn corporation that publishes and develops games and you don't have enough resources? Yeah. Ok. Sure. I believe you.
Commander and Conquer Generals also lost support from EA and was left with gameplay balance issues and other crap. They keep churning out massive amounts of games (which most of the time have a very short single player campaign) and like 3/4 of them are some crappy sequel with minor changes, and the games before those have lost support or even Online play. That's right, want to play some game by EA online because you're bored of pwning CPUs? Too bad because EA fucking dropped online play bitch, now go and buy the sequel. All of their games contain some really game destroying exploit or glitch and they usually take a long time to fix it, or release some patch that does nothing or just adds in more problems. I don't think they even test their garbage properly. This is why I like Steam, Valve can easily create an update within days and fix any issues with their games without forcing the consumer to wait months for a large patch that'll fix a few bugs. If you want you can go and google "EA Drops support" or something similar to that and you'll find sites reporting a massive amount of titles losing support.[/extremelyangryrant]

Unfortunately this game comes sometime in autumn 2007. It looks way better than 2142 and if it would be released at the same time like 2142 or QW:ET i would prefer Frontlines without a doubt.Kmarion wrote:

With a first inside view of 2142 i say that i'm not going to buy it, but i'm open minded and wait for the demo version and see if the game becomes more attractive.

Well the sweds made BF2 and Canadians made SF. and it seems that the canucks did a better job on the expansion pack in my opinion

I cant get enough of the beta, its an awesome game and the retail will be much better without the bugs. (patch coming soon to fix the titan crash and servers dieing) cause it didnt happen in first beta.
Bf2 was such a basic game in comparison to this and feels old.
Even playing with a 200 ping vehicles are better, guns are heaps more accurate and the game is balanced out (but only played 1 map).
I now think Bf2 was just a practice run as theyve learnt alot from the mistakes they did in that game. Ill probably get quake wars and frontlines aswell too.

Why? Because it's fun. No other reason. It's fun to play.

Does anyone know weather 2142 includes day/night cycles and weather patterns? this is one thing i think BF2 could have included to improve game realism am i way off base???
The author of the article sounds like he's 2 years old, whining because someone broke the mirror off his tricycle. Remember when your mom told you to do something, and you didn't want to, maybe brushing your teeth. Then 10 years later when your teeth are rotting out of your head you think "God, I should have listened to mom". That is what this is like. EAMOM says "We had to delay the patch, we have our reasons, but we don't feel like we need to share them with you." You say "Mom, you are making it hard to farm points on karkand for 10 hours a day, I hate you!" For the people like myself who play this game to be entertained and socialize, a crash is nothing more than an oppertunity to start over again with perhaps a better balanced team, and some of the fucktards usually leave because they get easily annoyed. Losing a few points is well worth it to me.
