As for the topic, when i heard fox was starting a 24 hour news station, i sat there thinking, "Their can't be 24 hours straight of the Worlds most blankety blank." Just not enough material. But Fox pulls out their little bag of tricks and spins the news in a manner to appeal to what the population likes to see. They put very well spoken guests on their talk shows and bash the hell out of them. Its like Jerry Springer without the punches. But CNN isn't exactly the poster child for news either. I just think Fox News is like a black hole thats pulling the rest of the news down with it.

Hey.. it's publish or perish..... It's the same all over the world now. The media are so hungry for their stories they dont stop to consider what a good reporter would have considered just say.. 10-20 years ago:

1) Will anyone get HURT by this (and if so what's the reporters moral responsbility to those people ?)
2) Is this information perhaps classified in anyway (possibly even a matter of national security that could start a war or worse !)
3) Is this information CORRECT (and can this be verified)
4) Have I got my quotes confirmed (as best I can tell media quote EACHOTHER more than they quote people so did ANYONE bother to check the original source ?)
5) Do I need an extention to give the right story ? (Today, they just botch the job and post a half finished story just to be the FIRST)

So anyone claiming that the media will be the downfall of modern civilzation may be right. Curiosity is a part of teh human nature, so as long as people will PAY for news that entertain, REGARDLESS of the fact that they may lie, be biased, paraphrase or are otherwise wrong, we the consumers are a part of the problem. There are not enough consciencious consumers in the world. I'm proud to be one fo them. And I for one do not trust the news unless I can get independant confirmation of the reported facts... This includes if a reporter is telling me that that there WILL be a tomorrow.
When following the media, always asume the story is wrong. If for no other reason that to LEARN how to get the TRUE story for yourself.

Sorry, only news personalities I know are Hannity and Colms (for their stupidity) and Bill O' Reily (for obvious reasons).
