A friend of mine is a pure genius got a degree from GA tech. knows a heck of a lot more about string theory and other quantum physics stuff than I will ever/want to know. You're right there. Another thing is that people use the stereotyping thing as a way of influencing others opinions, much like FOX News. They create an association between one viewpoint you express and completely different viewpoints typically held by people who share the particular viewpoint you are expressing at the time, whether or not you endorse the other viewpoints. An extreme example would be that if you think social welfare is good, they'll call you a communist and by virtue of the fact 'you are a communist', you also are a 'conspiracy theorist' because that is sometimes a trait of said character. It doesn't help anyone and some gormless gullible types, like those who watch FOX News (or any other channel) without engaging their brain, fall for it and treat the stereotyping as a legitimate and accurate rebuttal, when in reality it is just BS. They will often continue the debate labouring under the delusion that you hold all typical characteristics and viewpoints that their stereotypical image of you holds. At least get your facts straight. Accordingly, no liberal is upset by being called that because they are one, no atheist is upset by being called godless because they are. If I'm called a neo-conservative, that is incorrect. If I'm called Christian, that is also incorrect.
