Let's face it. There are two alternatives:
1) Talk to each other.
2) Continue blowing each other up forever and ever.
What harm is there in opening dialogue in the hopes of attempting to avoid option 2?

A negotiation is better, but picture the negotiation going wrong, there would be more casualties than before.

The thing is Hezbollah is a political/paramilitary organisation with clearly defined political goals. They are not like Al Qaeda or the numerous other crackpot organisation peppered throughout the middle east. They have grievances that are clearly identifiable and as such negotiation with them is at least possible. As such, Israel needs to give it a go. The relative peace in Northern Ireland right now didn't come from the government of the UK ignoring Sinn Féin, the political wing of the Provisional IRA. In fact the opposite brought about peace.
Picture the negotiation not happening at all. There would be more casualties for sure.zimmer92 wrote:

Let's put it this way. There is no negotiation with a party whose clear, stated goals include the destruction of your country. I voted no, however, if certain pre-conditions are met, negotiations can begin. They must renounce the use of violence, recognize Israel's right to exist, and honor previous diplomatic agreements such as treaties. Sadly, the chance of that happening in the forseeable future is minimal.
Of course they should negotiate. But the chances of that happening without a coup inside Israel are nil. I mean, being the biggest little bully around seems to be working for them, why would they stop? Either US aid needs to end, or the Israeli government needs to change.

Being from Israel you should pray for a negotiation. Despite what Hezbollah did in the past, that has no cure. But u can prevent more of the same in the future. So go and negotiate. Hezbollah probably blew Israel embassy and AMIA building in Argentina killing more than 200 people. It doesn't matter now. It has no solution. What is done is done, but you can achieve peace for the future.
