I know there's a rumor/myth that 1.4 is going to reset everyone's stats.  I'm not making a new post about that, I just want to have an official vote to see what the people at BF2s believe will happen on that date.

eh, could be a rumor but I still wouldn't be surprised if our stats get deleted.  I did do some hard work to get my unlocks and I still have two unlocks left(P90 and MP7).  I'm not planning on getting those in a hurry.  Oh well.  Just a game anyways.  If its true, EA failed to tempt me to get BF2142.

i think its because EA is loosing money.  it was said that there was a 50% drop off since patch 1.3, and a 70% in servers... hmm.  EA just wants money.

EA, as a company, is fucking genius.

Seriously, what better way to get people to drop 50 bucks on basically a fancy mod of an existing game, than to remove all support/records of said existing game?

+1 for EA, Satan would be proud.

If EA does this they will lose a lot of possible buyers for BF2142. That means less money. And we all know how EA loves money.

This article is obviously untrue. 2142 and BF2 development are separate, and they would never waster months of development to switch there team to 2142. For this reason i am going to lock this topic.
You all bunch off noobs, EVER THOUGH OF READING THE FIRST REPLIES BEFORE POSTING OR CHECK LAST POST? Just make you look like idiots, oh wait forgot this was BF2 community. Where all the whiners get together and complain about just everything.

So wait... you're complaining about the complainers not reading the proper complaints?

I went to bf2player.com they have a link to ea's site that explains stats are gone after oct 1st.

And you can register your name from bf2 for 2142, giving you a special vetern rank.

But sadly it is true stats will be gone... and after that when you play from the get go you have all the weapons w/unlocks.

BUH BYE STATS!

[Remember that at this point, it is nothing more than a rumor. There has been no official word from EA/Dice/Gamespy concerning this, and is most likely more backlash and speculation as to why the patch isn't released. --Manlaan]

dont forget to post the whole story

a more on topic question (at least kind): did the ea support for bf2 ever start?

Um its very true, its at EA's website, I already registed my name for 2142.

OCT 1st  yours and mine stats will be gone.

Go to BF2player.com and see for yourself.

You see.....

If my name remains the same for BF2142, then how can you track my stats for BF2, you can only compile stats for the one name with one game, so you must get rid of the old stats.

Thats how I know, yes.. you think its rumor, I know its true.

Thinking this a hoax our clan server admin guy contacted our sever provider for our ranked BF2 server. The server company is Rackage. Rackage informed us that they have been instructed by EA to terminate all ranked server suport and use in October. Also this message Rackage informed us has ben given to all ranked BF2 server providers.

Reading this messgae i contacted my server provider #4u-servers and as of yet nothing and i mean nothing has been said to them .

If this is going to happen as you guys keep on about then the game server providers are going to have to fork out alot of money themselfs to there buyers in refunds .

Alot of clans paye upfront for either 6month to a year of a ranked server and dont go month by month as many g.s.p dont so that anyway .

I cant see E.A saying here guys here's the money and give back to your customers what they have lost .

If you can prove 100% without doubt that this is going to happen say like a written statement from E.A or Rackage ,then i wouldnt worry about it .

Well I wouldn't be to sure it's a fake, I'm 50/50 on this. EA has done things like this in the past! Look at Motor city online! (No single player mode, online only)

Had to pay 40 dollars for the game, and 10 dollars a month to play it. Then one week before they shut it down, they still sold the game, and still let people start new accounts. But gave the nice message "We will give you a great deal on Need for Speed undergournd"

Kind of sounds like "We're sorry to inform you, that we will no longer be supporting Battlefield 2. But we'll give you a free rank up, when you buy Battlefield 2142!"

Just have to wait and see I guess

There you go E.A's forum have a look around you will see nothing there .

Server admins speak to your game server providers and also ask them ,mine said (#4u-servers based in uk)
nothing has been said to them AS OF YET by E.A about loseing the ranked status .

http://www.4u-servers.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=965

thats taking from there forum today

so please for the love of god close this thread until somebody can 100% prove its going to happen .

EA BF2 CRISIS!

After this months announcement of a delay in the release of the much anticipated patch 1.4, the final patch to be issued for Battlefield 2 comes some good news: the patch is ready to go. However, gamers expecting the changes, fixes and improvements much discussed and debated on the Battlefield community's many web forums are set for a big shock. A Gamespy insider has revealed that despite the DICE testing team throwing much time and EA money at Battlefield 2's multitude of problems they still keep popping up, and despite the delay and an extensive public and private testing plan no solutions were found. The final patch will be put out next week with the Comcast sponsored map 'Road to Jalalabad' but minus the essential fixes promised. Not good news, and not news likely to please the army of fans seemingly ready to riot outside the doors of EA hq unless they're fixed. The problems in question were introduced with the May release of the 1.3 patch, an essential update to implement the lucrative 'Armored Fury' booster pack and therefore one, unlike earlier faulty patches, that couldn't be rolled back. Gamers have experienced frequent server crashes, game crashes and a large number of multiplayer glitches that have rendered the game an unplayable mess for most. As a result according to Gamespy statistics, player numbers have dwindled by as much as 40%, whilst the UK based server provider Multiplay reports that ranked server rentals have dropped by 60% in just 2 months. Things are set to get worse for BF2 players however with the news that EA will sever their ties with Gamespy over the persistent scoring system that is hosted by the US provider, possibly as early as October 1. Players who have entered the EA Battlefield 2142 pre release program will be able to retain their in game ranks, however all scores and awards will go offline as EA switches from the Gamespy login service to its own in house system. Judging by the popularity of Battlefield 2's scoring and ranks this will not be a well recieved move to say the least, and will no doubt further irritate players expected to purchase another EA Battlefield title just over a year past Battlefield 2's release, and one expansion and two booster packs later. Regarding Battlefield 2142, the release date is apparently set to be moved up from November to late September after the public beta test revealed the game to be in better shape than first imagined. Whether anybody will be around to play it is another matter.

Support for Battlefield 2 goes a long way beyond patches - it covers a whole host of other activities including the support of this forum that will be continuing well beyond the launch of Battlefield 2142. The 1.4 patch may well be the last one released, but that is assuming that there is nothing left to fix, and however nobody knows for certain whether this will be the case as yet.

On a procedural note, we're never given any "cease all support of this game" edicts internally, we match the level of support to the level of interest in line with the plans for the future of the title in question or the franchise it belongs to. Given that the Battlefield franchise has plenty going on I don't foresee a drop-off in support from our end for quite some time.

The easiest thing would have been to read the patch release. Why would they lesson the amount of players needed to start a ranked server if they actually where going to stop support.... pfft.
