Ok.. I will admit that this is not the topic nor place I would like, but I'm hoping SOMEONE can help me, 'coz playing on my spare PC makes me edgy (and hurts my pride).

After returning from a business trip my wife tells me that my play PC wont boot. After examination I find that the PC DOES post, but it will not load anything from the drives, including bootable CDroms. For this reason I tend to believe that the problem is caused by a BIOS issue.

Upon examining the system I find that my RAID set (on a dfi lanparty nF4 SLI-DR board with a built in sil 3114 RAID controller) can only see TWO of the three disks in the raid set. So ofcourse I enter the raid bios to attempt a recovery... To my surprise the bios HAS no option for recovering a raid5 "crash". Then I examine the manual and find that yes, the BIOS will prevent the PC from booting if the RAID set is incomplete. Presumably to prevent dataloss.

So now the question is: How do I recover my data ? The disk that "went missing" seems to work fine (it is detected and everything). I can ofcourse replace the disk, and rebuild the parity bits, though I would like to try to include the disk in the raid set again to see if it will work without replacement.... But HOW do I DO that ? I'm used to working with what apparently is a lot more user freindly than this. The bios STINKS, and has no options for raid5 users beyond building and deleting the raidset.

I do NOT want to loose the data on the raidset, as I have used it for backup of virtually EVERYTHING, thinking that it was a "safe" place to put it..... So I dont want anyone to GUESS at how to do this. I want someone who has been there and done that to tell me how to solve the problem.

Thanx in advance.
