One of my friends was working at the local pool as a lifeguard over the summer, and when some people came from out of town and brought in unauthorized objects, they got called a "honky". It was awful funny since the term seems to have lost the insulting value over the past few decades. The only remotely insulting thing that I know of that you can call a white person and mean it seems to be a hillbilly. Heck, even so, Foxworthy made redneck seem almost an exclusive class.
Nothing wrong with casual racism. But then I think anything's ok provided it's funny (saying anything that is - not running round killing people). Nothing wrong with taking the piss out of someones race, same as there's nothing wrong with taking the piss out of someones nationality, age, sex, disabilities, height, weight, mistakes, etc.

Well, one of the people in my coterie of assorted nerds happens to look Mexican, though isn't. Everyone calls him a beaner, with a few variations. He doesn't care, and has his own names for the rest of us. the sacrifices all these people made helped abolish slavery.
