I'm going to be corny and pick Washington. He didn't do much to screw America over, and he obviously had at least a few plusses.

Here's a good question, who was the first 'President Of The United States'?
Kennedy, because of the Cuban missile stuff, bla bla bla .....
Reagan.
I chose Washington because he was the purest considering he was the first. I wonder how much his campaign cost?
I'd have to say that his being a slave owner was not good and not right but at that time it was common.

Ronald Reagan.....by far. He did good with the economy and kept the rest of the world afraid of the U.S. and other democracy super powers ( U.k. etc). I hate Clinton. Great diplomat, bad leader.
Malloy must go

I'm not really old enough to know what Clinton was like so I'll have to base it on what I've heard. And from what I've heard, FDR was the best. Lifting America from the Great Depression, helping win WW2, making America one of the most important countries in the world, and best of all, he was a democrat!

Who chose the GWB comedy option?
I picked Lincoln.
Quick question though, who here is picking Reagan because their parents said he was the best president and you weren't alive/too young to remember? I've seen that before here.

The Carter years were those of terror. Iran took our hostages and we didn't do shit about it. Gas lines. Billy beer.
Reagan came along and within his two terms the U.S.S.R ceased to exist.
The economy improved.
We had a military again.
Besides, he was just so likeable.
I'm 38, I was there. I remember Ford.

Do you also remember his offering up Ollie North and company for his failed trading arms deal?ATG wrote:

I choose Lincoln, but I can't argue with someone who says FDR, and Washington comes next. It was their leadership during times of extreme peril that puts them at the top.
I think GWBush, Grant, and Clinton are the comedic options. Kennedy isn't in the top half. Reagan is a weird one, lots of people give him high marks, but I think he's at best around the middle and he gets too much credit for things like healthy economy & USSR collapse that shouldn't be credited to him.

I object to the fact that the non-Herbert Bush is in a poll titled "Who was the best..." He can still turn things around public opinion-wise
exactly. lincoln led the country through the first real test of the nation, post revolution, and also set the moral compass for the next hundred years.RTHKI wrote:

grant was a horrible pres. but a good general
grant was one of the best generals ever produced by this nation, but a horrible president. i dont blame him though, he didnt even really want it.
I can't pick just one. Really.
Lincoln helped keep the nation together and instated morals into everyone about the wrongs of holding people captive and forcing them to work.
FDR took the world out of TWO crises and stopped a man from taking over two/three continents.
Reagan for helping stop the worldwide spread of communism, and got the economy much better than it was.

Jfk.
Teddy Roosevelt is our most ass-kicking president we have ever had. Teddy Roosevelt
Kevin Costello because when I hit 35 I'm running and will be the best president ever.
