Think I got it resolved...
Tried a D-Link (AirPlus G DWL-G122) 802.11g USB WiFi dongle and it was absolutely awful. It seemed to work Ok until I fired up BF2 and joined a game. Was getting pings of 300ms or higher. Absolute crap!
Last one I tried was a U.S Robotics (USR805422) 802.11g USB WiFi dongle and it runs as smooth as a baby's arse. This is using the USR WiFi config utility and not Windows Zero Config.
In summary:
U.S Robotics (USR805422) - No problems with BF2
Netgear (WG111T) - Fine most of the time but occasional lag
D-Link (AirPlus G DWL-G122) - Completely laggy, 300ms pings.
Belkin (Wireless G USB) - bfs2.com managed to break this piece of crap ;-)
All the above were connected to a Netgear DG834GT, and were in a PC with AMD XP4200 X2 CPU, 2 Gb RAM & Radeon X1900 Gfx.
Sorry I ended up hijacking your original post ( and taking it a bit off topic ) Tin_Whisker, but I thought I'd post my findings in case they help anyone searching for help. Hope a +1 karma will compensate m8 ;-)
