Can someone show me a noob-friendly text giude on how to do basic things

(I.E I have a red backround flag, put in a ak-47 with a white backround, howdo i match backrounds?)

If you have the ak-47 with a white background, you can just cut it out with a lasso tool, or just choose the multiply option, where all your layers are shown. But then you have to mess around with the brightness and contrast and such. It would be easier just to cut out a whole object, but if you have say blood spatter, with alot of little objects, then its best to just choose multiply (only if the background is white.)
