After playing CoD, my headphones have been outputing really bad, sound is crakling and it jumps from quiet to loud. I tried my 5.1 speakers, they are ok (thank god, I only got em yesterday). The headphones just seem to come across bad. I tried them on my mp3 player. They were ok there, its just when I use em on my pc.

I have X-Fi xtreme music, with latest drivers.

I have tried them on all modes, game mode, entertainment, ... Still crap?

The x fi is also set to headphones so all settings should be right.

Oh no! I just bought that Sound Card!

It has good reviews all around (pcmag.com & some other places I forgot where).  Hopefully it's just a small bug.  and I don't have the same problem. It was price heavy (more than I wanted for a sound card)

i had a similar problem, also swapped L/R channels as well as being crackly etc, unplugging the speakers and only using headphones did it for me

Install Creative's utilities and make sure the speaker mode is set to headphones.
