I don't really think they should. Mostly because only a tiny part of Turkey is in Europe, most of it is in Asia.

As long as they dont recognize the sovereignty of all nations already in the EU, I dont see how they could possibly be accepted to join. And then there is that whole "Mutual values of the Union's member states" thing.

Yes. Absolutely they should be allowed to join. Perhaps not yet, but once they've sorted the place out sufficiently. In fact haven't the EU said they can join if they shape up a bit.
The cultural and religious differences are irrelevant. It's a GOOD thing to have diversity within these groups. Religion should have nothing to do with politics ever.
As for Russia joining - I personally thinnk Russia is too big to join, it wouldn't be balanced and wouldn't work well.

Yes if they fulfil criterias for new members decided by EU.

The reason they're not being allowed in at the moment is human right violations and stuff - but they are cleaning up their act and once it's all sorted out we should let them in, like we said we would.

no way.. Turkey hasn't even recogniced what they did to the armenians during WWI and as some other ppl have said, they dont respect human rights and stuff like that.. so I voted no..

Bearing in mind that they won't be allowed to join until they've really cleaned up their act - would you be in favour of them joining then?

Geographically speaking, they really aren't part of Europe, or at least there not close enough I think. The need to join the MEC. Middle East Coalition (lol no pun intended)
What bothers me is that they would try to meet these requirements because the EU says its a prerequisite for joining, and that they don't want to meet them for themselves. They would reduce or try to abolish human rights violations because that's needed to join the EU, not because they themselves think it is barbaric.Bertster7 wrote:

No, we've already got enough Muslims here in the EU as it is already. The next thing that will happen is a flood of Turkish immigrants to the main EU countries. We don't need anymore!

I voted No, UK unemployment is up yet we had 400,000 East Europeans come to this country to find jobs. Wages are on the way down, big bosses getting cheap labour, this would only get worse if Turkey joined. I am no racist or patriot but too much immigration will kill this country....
