If you look at religion, which most of the claims to the land are based on Arabs are the descendants of Arbraham (Ibrahim) through his son Ishmael. Which in a religious context gives the Arabs as much claim to the land as the Jews.
The Arab league defines an Arab as:
"An Arab is a person whose language is Arabic, who lives in an Arabic speaking country, who is in sympathy with the aspirations of the Arabic speaking peoples."
Which is quite open ended.
Of course you do get the Arab Jews, or Mizrahi - which makes things even more complicated.
The term Arab is used in the Torah to describe desert dwelling semetic tribes.
Maybe the Arabs and the Jews have more in common than they think.
Arabs come from all over the place - including the area that became Palestine/Israel.
The whole Zionist religious claim to the land is a big steaming pile of bullshit, the Arabs have just as much claim to it as anyone.
Oh, and Lisik - coud ou ty t pell operaly?
The fact that Lisik, an Israeli citizen attempts to defend his country is good enough for me. So he can't spell English very well. He participates and kudos to him.
I will:Ikarti wrote:

It is unfucking believable how people can debate and discuss Middle East conflicts with out historic knowledge of the region!
Out of 22 Arabic countries we have today, only those from the Arabian penninsula, in the past, are Arabic.
The rest (Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Israel, Jordan, Egypt and North Africa) were not Arabic countries. They became Arab after Islamic occupation and genocide of those nations.

TOWs don't go up, and they don't involve lasers. TOWs are wire-guided missiles.Ashford wrote:

Go easy on Lisik's English. He may be stuffed in the head but remember that English is probably his second language after Hebrew so he's making a good effort.
Ashford: Communist News Network? You've got to be f**king joking me, you yanks who say that CNN is left need to learn about what the left is before you go labeling a capitalist media company the "Communist News Network"

Spanish is a second language to me, I can spell it though at least.
There is entirely too much history in the Middle East for the average layman. Parsing your way through centuries of confliuct is not only difficult and tedious, but when you do find the material, you begin to wonder how the area still exists at all.
It's a bloody mess, that's for sure.FourthHorseman wrote:

It can get a little overly complicated, but then so does all history when you look at it in depth. That's what's good about it, the depth.
I bet he's just american/english/german/whoever schoolkid playing here. It was just too convenient that he appeared here when debate about Israel begun. And nobody misspells that badly if it isn't intentional. There's spellchecker ffs.TeamZephyr wrote:

Nope. He is from Israel. Look at his stats. He is definitely an Israeli.PekkaA wrote:

Beside the point though, he's an Israeli, just a fairly dense one.
Let's critize and judge him, right? Us Americans who have never known war on our homeland. Sounds like we are the ones that are dense.Ikarti wrote:

I'm only going with what he's shown me, which has been barely coherent pseudo-arguments and hatred of Arabs.rawls2 wrote:

Again, coming from someone who doesn't know what terror is. You spoke about a balloon popping and nobody freaking out except the police. I wonder what would have happened had it been an Israeli train station.Ikarti wrote:

Absolutely. Lisik's arguments are just nonsensical or racist.Ikarti wrote:

He doesn't want to hear other sides of the argument. As far as Lisik is concerned all Arabs are evil and need to be bombed into submission by Israel. A typically Zionist view.
I don't know either, but rounding up some Palestinians and bulldozing some houses wouldn't surprise me.rawls2 wrote:

You're defending a guy who says 'all that Israel does you see on tv'. That statement is impossible for any nation.rawls2 wrote:

Lisik's statements come from a guy who was born into war. Someone who doesn't have the luxury of safety that we feel. I too would like to hear a Palestinians views. It would mean a lot more coming from them than a bunch of freedom spoiled westerners.Bertster7 wrote:

Yes people are just born with the will to blow themselves up for no reason.rawls wrote:

You are dumb.
Yeah I'd like to hear a Palestianian talk on these forums too. Only one problem, they don't have internet.
Hmm, I wonder why they don't have any.............

And yet he has plenty of time to play BF2 and write here.... Maybe he has a laptop in his foxhole... I don't believe that someone who really has to experience horror of war would spend his extra time playing war games.rawls wrote:

It's not a war anyway. It's a powerful state under terrorist attack.Lots of people in these forums have been through similar - granted, slightly less extreme, situations. Anyone from New York for example. I have had experiences of disruption from terrorism - my birthday is on the 7th of July and the terrorist attacks in London, where I live on 7/7 really pissed me off, phones didn't work properly, traffic was terrible, public transport was closed and people were getting blown up. But I got on with my day as normally as I could, I didn't go ranting about how all muslims should be killed, as Lisik does. The IRA bombing campaigns also affected my life, slightly - yet I don't hate all Irish people.
Lisiks views are racist - pure and simple. There is a lot of racism towards Arabs in Israel. Here is an example taken from two IDF soldiers firing on an Arab refugee camp :
One of the gunners commented: “In a war, these things happen. . . . It’s just a bunch of Arabs.” A second gunner said that, after bombarding the refugee camp, a commander told the gunners that “we were shooting well and to continue this way and that Arabs, you know, there are millions of them.” (Jerusalem Press)
Back to the topic of the thread - media seen in the west about the Israel situation is biased. The Israeli government have controls over what is broadcast. For example, 3 BBC journalists covering the Lebanon sistuation were arrested by the IDF. I believe even CNN have complained about Israeli censorship.
The content seen or read in western media sources is approved by the Israeli government. The Palestinians do not have that luxury.
