Well to be honest I do not know anything about graphics card. I know there are some tropics with them, but I want a really good and cheap one, so I need your help. I have been looking on this one, and I want to hear your opinion .Asus GeForce 7600GT/256MB/PCI-E/HDMI/DVI. Is this one good. I just know its pretty cheap. It only costs 1699 KR which is About 240$. Do you guys have any other suggestion. I also need to get 1gb of ram. Thanks.
Somebody must have an answer.
We need to know what you have now to tell you whether that will be any good for you.
Well i have a Intel Pentium 4 3.0 ghz processor. Got 512 MB ram. Is that enough. Oh and my currently card is a 5200FX.
Well I'm guessing, and I'm pretty sure people will put me right if I'm wrong, but the FX5200 is an AGP card so whatever graphics card you're gonna buy you'll need it to be AGP unless you're gonna replace your m/board.
I have absolutely no idea where you are from so I can't really point you right for your country.

I am from Denmark. Is the AGP good or what.

If it's what you've got, it's what you've got whether it's good or bad.
I don't know if dabs.com ship to denmark, but you might wanna have a look there. If you're limited to AGP and don't wanna change your motherboard, This doesn't look bad for a budget.

WTF. On the site I am looking on it costs double as much. What about this one. Gainward 6800GS / 512MB / AGP X8.
How much do you want to spend? In pounds sterling?
Well a max of 250£.
Stef u allmost got same things as my old computer i had 5200FX too 512RAM but i buyed 1 GB and processor was 2.80 Intel Pentium. And i wanted to buy new graphics card too but it turend out like this i had to buy new motherboard, new HDD, new RAM, new graphics card (7900GT), new processor, new PSU 450W thats all if u want to buy new graphics card then u need to that too. But if u buy AGP then not but all new crads are PCI-E.

Well I do not want the best card there is. Just one that makes the graphics pretty good. What about this one.
Gainward 6800GS / 512MB / AGP X8. But can a motherboard force you to replace many of the parts in your computer

Pretty much what Madiz said, if you want a new graphics card, you are currently limited to an AGP card and the best AGP card on the market at the moment is the Gainward Bliss 7800GS+ 512Mb which should work with your PC and costs £253 on dabs.com. However, this card requires a minimum PSU of 400W (I think, may be 450W) so chances are you would need to buy a new PSU as well.
The 6800 cards are okay, but are not cutting edge. I would imagine playing BF2 on one would not let you max out on detail etc, but would very probably be okay. You definitely need to get more RAM though, 512Mb just ain't enough.
What site are you using?

New motherboard was MSI K9N AM2 NEO-F, new HDD 250GB seagate, new graphics card 7900GT 256MB PCI-E, new processor AMD Athlon 3800+ AM2 X2, new psu 450W chief, new RAM DDR2 1GB. Cost about 1200$. Btw where are u from u sayed: It only costs 1699 KR u from Estonia??

I am from Denmark and seeing a danish site from the store i bought my computer. How do you see how much power your computer is using.

The Gainward 6800GS looks pretty reasonable. I'm guessing that you've been running all on low at the moment in BF2 so this should be an improvement.stef10 wrote:

I'll see if I can find out what the minimum PSU wattage is to run it for you.
ok

Can you see how much power your computer is using. Can you see it in your Dxdiag report.

Not really, your PSU rating is on the side of the PSU. Only data I can find is for the PCI-Express version of the 6800GS but that does say it needs a minimum 400W PSU so depending on what else you have in your PC you may need much higher.
I've just bought the Gainward 7800GS+ and a 600W PSU to go with it as my wimpy 250W one isn't gonna hack it.
You need to have a look at your PSU and figure whether you need to buy a new one into your budget or not.

the 6800 512 would be able to play BF2 on high no problem....hell, my 6600gt 128mb (PCI-E tho) i had ran BF2 on all high @ 40fps...youll be fine with that card
also, i had a 5200fx, and most are AGP, but, if he bought it more than 4 years ago, there is a chance it is a PCI card.
to check if you have AGP or PCI, do the following: open up your case's side panel, after unplugging the power and what not. look on the mainboard. if you see a brown, or sometimes black, slot that is bigger than the rest, then you have AGP. next step: go buy that 6800 .

How much does one of 600W costs. Im also planning on buying a 1gb of corsair ram. That is only just under 100£.
My 600W PSU was a seasonic S12 series and cost £74.
Happy purchasing.
Happy purchasing.
I may buy that 6800.
does your 600W psu is silence?? my 450W is silence and thats adds about half to the price if ur not silence fan then it dont make any difference
