well, no one left to blow up seems to be their goal
Convert or die. It's what they say.
All I'll say is that demonisation and generalisations led directly to the deaths of 6 million people in the 30s/40s. A buddy at work, Salim, half French/half Tunisian read the news reports this morning and was quite worried. He himself is an atheist although his father was muslim but he now worries that, because of his appearance, he could be taken aside at airports, interned, threatened, etc. whenever he travels to the UK, which he does regularly (he used to live there). It only hit home to him today that he could actually get tarred with the same brush as those people captured last night.
Anti-muslim feeling in Ireland is practically zilch. We're probably the most pro-arab western country there is (first to recognise the PLO!) so I can't empathise with the sentiments of some of the English people posting here.

It's bad news, but Birmingham airport is practically unaffected! Woo! Birmingham is the best!
A little known piece of trivia - Birmingham Airport is actually in the area of Solihull (not a part of Birmingham)!

Now lets wait for the evidence...
Tell Salim and his buddies to speak the fekk up then, and organize some anti-terror rallies.CameronPoe wrote:

Until I see Muslims rioting against terrorism, I am going to assume all are guilty.
Their silence is defeaning. I have seen ZERO marches by muslim groups against terrorism, it's usually guilty white people trying to defend them.
unfortunately that is a side effect of the religion, as it used to be an almost exclusively arab/black religion, and of course it doesn't help that most of the homicide bombers leave some video behind full of praises to allah and all only reinforcing the religious ties. As much as it sucks for our arab friends and all (my family's long time physician is lebanese, as well as a few others), profiling is a tool. If you are looking for arab terrorist then it would be an irresponsible waste of resources to spread yourself thin not using some means of narrowing your search pattern. Most serial killers are middle aged white males, yet no one seems to have a problem with the FBI narrowing their searches to middle aged white males. I myself had to deal with it when the sniper shootings occurred as I was traveling the area at the time, at first the scare was "look for a white work truck" because they saw a white work truck at all the locations. Of course white work trucks were everywhere, turned out they were shooting from the modified trunk of a sedan, but I couldn't blame the police for going with the info they had and trying to narrow down the search scope. Of course to their credit they didn't settle on the white work truck and also continued looking for other suspect vehicles as well as searching suspicious trucks.CameronPoe wrote:

I work at Luton Airport, all non essential stuff have been sent home and no staff bags are being allowed in the terminal. I doubt anything will ever happen at Luton though as half of the staff working there are Muslim.
It was the same in the 80`s and early 90`s with the IRA, London was always the main target, it has more of an impact. Luton was always safe as we`ve got a huge Muslim and Irish population.

Oh great, the person I am waiting for has flown into Luton. She was delayed by two hours though.....SwampDog wrote:

From BBC
"According to BBC security correspondent Gordon Corera, the authorities believe the target of the plot included US as well as UK airlines flying to all parts of the US and it seemed to have involved a number of waves of simultaneous attacks.
It is thought there could have been three waves of attacks on different days, targeting three planes each time.
It is believed that the plot may have revolved around liquids of some kind.
Officials say the explosives could have been sophisticated and extremely effective. It is possible they could have been carried in fizzy drink bottles or cans.
The plot was expected to be carried out soon - not on Thursday or in the next couple of days, but not much later."

How does that work though? If they are still letting them fly in, what changes in procedures does "red" require (from the US) considering the aircraft is full of passengers and on it's way over? Do aircraft controll just say "look its a BA plane, be careful" or what?mavrick 3399 wrote:

That was terrible. And the perpetrators didn't even get a slap on the wrist (the deMenezes incident I assume you're referring to).EVieira wrote:

Not saying it justifies the Police actions but I don't think either were "innocent members of the public".
