PCs wont be able (unless you spend an ass load of money) on the incoming Blu Ray readers. Also, more people like to pay for something without bothering with the techinical stuff....and that is consoles. You just buy them and put a CD in. A PC, you freeze, your crash, you ctrl+alt+del. Also the PS3 60 version is $600, if you see a different price somewhere else, you're just plain fucked.USAFDude_1988 wrote:

Consoles crash too. Blu Ray readers won't be that much and by the time PCs need to be using Blu Ray, they'll be cheap.xX[Elangbam]Xx wrote:

That's one of the biggest problems with consoles, they need to include all the kit to start with - or in Microsoft's case as expensive optional extras. Blu Ray isn't necessary YET. It will be soon, but by then it'll be cheap. DVDs were expensive once, but by the time PC games started appearing on DVDs, DVD-ROM and RW drives were quite affordable.
*edit* Also what does your first sentence mean? "PCs wont be able on the incoming Blu Ray readers." ???

Exactly, which shows that the Blu Ray should act like the DVD. So I have no idea why people are bitching that Blu Ray will have absolutely no chance. Now anyway, what we're doing here is basically gaming, not the extra desktop stuff. Yes, it's rumored that the PS3 can act like a computer but the PC will win.Bertster7 wrote:

Sorry, fast typing:
I was trying to say, that Blu Ray readers would be extremely expensive to put into PCs right now

A question about the Wii --
I know they will be making the "old style" controllers, but will they be available for Wii-type games? All it says on wikipedia and on the website is that the old controllers will be used to play old games.
I mean, the new controllers look cool, but what if I like the old ones better? Do I have a choice?
That's my main concern

you mean the ps2 stylized controller? i believe that's up to the developers. Super smash brawl is gonna use the "new-old" controller. GC controller (four) slots for GC games. I assume that you'll use the "new-old" controller for the old games that you DL as well.Spearhead wrote:

it's surprising how many people choose Xbox over PS3... does free internet not mean anything to you?
Wii and PC
After that wonderful video that alpinestar graciously blessed us with...I think the choice is clear.
But aside from that I think that PC will still be the way to go as far as gaming in general is concerned. Sure a blue ray drive may cost a bit and a new fandangled high performance video card is gonna cost. But after those upgrades It would still be able to out perform any console. and might still keep me under the 600 dollar range. plus I'm sure that down the road all the games will be able to be played on the computer and downloaded off the Internet for free.

Ya, it looks kinda like a PS2 controller, except white and simple like the Gamecube controllerMURcarnage wrote:

I really hope they make the new-old controller available for all the games. The new censor controllers sound cool, but I'm not convinced they'll be convenient to use, fun, etc...

truthfully the psp isnt that great, the games suck cause of the layout and they already lost support of the movie companies and besides since i bought the psp ive only played and liked 3 games while with the ds i have atleast 50 games i play on their all the timeericcartmanisbest wrote:

Free internet ftw
I'm getting the PS3 now. I've managed to come up with the money, somehow. I'm reserving next week.

I feel that 360 will probably be the big winner, simply because of the combination of good games (the original Xbox had a less palletable selection than this platform in my opinion), the pricing and microsoft's pretty gung-ho advertising campaign.Talon wrote:

Prices:
PC: £300+
PS3: £425+ (or less in the US)
X360: £280
Wii: £130 or less
----------
My view: the PS3.
Yes, it costs a bloody fortune. The games will cost at least £40 each. To be honest, I don't care. One, I have quite a lot of money. If I was worried about money I'd probably buy the Wii. I'm not going to start quoting too many specs but the PS3 is more powerful than the X360. Yes - the Xbox had a similar advantage over the PS2 but not quite as large. Another reason many miss is the disk drive. The 360 comes with a standard DVD drive, which can hold 9GB. The PS3 comes with a Blu-Ray dirve. A single layer disk holds 25Gb, and a duel layer disk 50Gb. Now, the Xbox can be upgraded, in December, with an HD-DVD drive, but that will cost around £100 estimated (bringing it up to PS3 price), and will only provide 15gb per disk layer.
PS3 runs on Linux, as I'm sure PC owners know, is a good thing. It can even browse the internet. It comes with a 60 GB Hard drive (to the 360s 20GB). The PS3 also has a motion sensitive controller. Yes, the diea was nicked off Nintendo slightly, but unlike the Wii-mote, it retains the functionality of a normal controller as well, with 2 analog sticks.
Yes, its going to make me broke, but I want one.
Don't take that the wrong way, I have been loyal to sony for years, but this price scheme has really made me wary of buying one of their new consoles, I can off the top of my head name some pricey consoles that died shortly after their inseption. Neogeo, and the Jaguar come to mind immediatly. Paying 600+ dollars in something that may or may not survive is NOT a smart investment in my opinion, at least with Xbox we know there are already tons of games, some of which are already quite acclaimed.
The games that are coming out now are pretty much the same across the board anyway, playing GTA on Xbox360 will be roughly the same experience as playing it on the PS3. Hard drive size, and stats of machines DO NOT interest me, as long as the games are fun, I am happy. I just don't see gimmicks like blueray or faster processors making the difference, it's the games!
well if game developers are smart, they COULD..make their games "hybrid" so to speak. Giving the player the ability to choose if they're going to use the Wii-remote, or the new-old controller. But that means more programming and somewhat straying from what the Wii is all about.Spearhead wrote:

true, but the new controller better be good, damn good, or a lot of people will probably end up not buying the Wii at all.MURcarnage wrote:

Obviously if they're putting a 60gig harddrive they're planning for something else. There were rumors of it having a keyboard and mouse and operation like a computer (i mean with those specs....geez i could have AA on). Hopefully the internet interface will be better than the PS2s and 360s.
oh i wouldn't say that. i know a LOT of people who're already putting their money down for the Wii.Spearhead wrote:
