Can anyone give me some tips on how to use knifes in general? I've always sucked at using melee weapons in any game like CS and DoD. Is there any other situation besides knifing a prone, unsuspecting sniper that you can think of that a total noob could not evn mess up?
usally before i hit someone with knife i prone the knife like hell...
dunno, maybe you could try going as assualt and use flash bangs or support and use tear gas. Never tried it myself so don't know if it works.ChyneseGUY wrote:

why would you need to shoot them first? i read somewhere knifes are one hit kills...unless i read wrong lol.
One hit wonders they can be, like everything there are glancing blows that don't kill...
What crimson_grunt said is your best tactic - its how I got my Basic. I had no hope of getting anything else until they changed the requirements for it.
Good Luck with your various attempts dude...

I put a few in them, in case I miss with the knife then I roll over to my pistol and finish the job, if you're able to sneak up on a sniper ( watch out for clays) they are good knife victims but nowadays its hard to find some noob sniper laying there with no rear protection and not looking around
Karkand is good map - go MEC and spwan at hotel and keeping running around and pop around the corners and watch your UAV when you see a squad near you - jump in the middle, go prone, knife them ankles

I had 3 enemies in a row where one hack of my knife didn't kill them, so don't assume it's one shot one kill. My best bet was to watch my friendly UAV and sneak around behind the enemy ground forces. Patience the key.
Just get angry at your commander!
I was on ghost town and created a "snipers" squad and my commander was trying to tell me where to attack... way on the other side f the map. After responding "NO" about a dozen times and typing to him that I had a great spot and would surly get killed if I moved... and he started complaining to me, I just got fed up and jumped off the oil derrek and swam to the main land and made my way to where he wanted me to go. Before I knew it, I'm looking at three guys and I was all out of granades
I just ran out and bunny hopped and moved around as much as I could and bam 3 knife kills!!! In the end I killed 6 bad guys and took the flag.
After that, I decided to not be sniper the rest of the round!

im the best kniver here
1 word unlock F2000 and use flashbangs in kark. and DO IT when the map start , i just makes me laugh
Here is my strategy, and if you do it effectivley, you will have hundreds of knife kills.
Whenever in a combat situation, try to be descreet. What I mean by that is do not let the enemy see you. If you spot one, and he dosen't see you, this is your opportunity. If you think that you have at least 5 seconds to attack him without him knowing your position, pull out the knife and stab away.
Hope it helps.

One registered hit with the knife will always kill. Period. You just have to hope that your hit is detected, becuase half the time it will just puff some smoke off your enemy.
And this is in the wrong section. moved. Not to mention there are a plethora of topics on this subject.

I remember when the Expert Knife badge required 18 kills in one round and 100 in total. All that seems to have changed now.
U could also try to find a knife pistol and shockpaddle only serv and ask for many knife battles there but thats a bit lame u could also try and spawn-knife rape like bigmack192 said
My method (works great):
1) Play Medic so you can heal yourself
2) Wait for an UAV
3) Try to get close to a victim from behind (run)
4) Go prone and stab his toes to the ground
5) If you miss slighty move and try again
6) Dont attack with the knife if you are spotted (heal and come back)

The Kife is a weapon of opportunity.
Every battle there will be 4 or 5 easy opportunities to knifekill.
Just run around with your best kit and when you come up behind an enemy just whip out the knife and stick him.
If you are dead set on getting that badge and want to dedicate to the knife for the points, go sniper.
All sniperkits look alike, because of the ghuillysuit. So it is harder for a player to see at a glance that you are the enemy. Besides that players do not expect a sniper going close combat.
The trick in not getting shot, is jump like mad when close to a player and stick him when close...
These two tactics were the way i earned my basic, vet and expert knife,.
By the way, the knife is the best secondary weapon for the sniper, in my opinion.

play on a 64 karkand map with 32 players
being medic is useful.
sprint towards your enemy, at the end go prone and stab the knife (your knife is longer than you think btw)
it's easier when they don't see you but it's possbile when they do (but then you'll die more). You'll get 7 IAR in no time, I got the 18 IAR for expert two weeks before 1.3 came out.
And one hit is kill indeed (if it registers)
oh btw, jumping can be good to avoid bullets, but remember that you cannot stab while in the air. Sometimes you stab one but he doesn't die, try to stab again as quickly as possible! It's because the hitbox of a guy not always equals the figure (although most of the time it's oke)

An important factor when stabbing people is the correct range.
Too close and your knife "shots" will miss more than they hit.
I spend an hour stabbing my team mates and enemies in single player mode to get the feel of the knife.
I do not miss with a knife very often now, although I still prefer to pistol someone in the back rather than knife them.
Hope this helps man.
