Hell yeah you can, that x1800 will smoke bf2, the ram might hinder you but i dout it, my bet is between 50fps to 80fps. im not total sure but thats a rough estimate

The ram will hinder you, very much so, load times will be around 5 mins, thats around all medium I reckon

FPS Will eat dick too, Great card, but the Ram is holding you back

*Im not to sure though, this is just a rough guess*

load time is a lot to do with your hard drive's. Get western digital's "raptors" 10000RPM sata's, and get 2x1 gig of ram, putting 4 X 512 really wont help much.

yeah, you will be able to play BF2 in all high settings, even with the lightning. Get yourself another 1024MB RAM and the maps will load pretty fast too. I suggest resolution 1600x1200.

I guess around 40 FPS are no problem at all!

If you set the graphics settings to high, there is much more to load. Thats why it take so long! See, your GPU only got 256MB (wich is enough) and your main RAM is only 1024MB. For high settings 2048MB are recomended! Go and get them!

try it, go for it. Get another pair of RAms for faster loading time! Well, the CPU isnt the fastest one, but I think you´ll get average FPS 40-50

load time is a lot to do with your hard drive's. Get western digital's "raptors" 10000RPM sata's, and get 2x1 gig of ram, putting 4 X 512 really wont help much.
actually it is the RAM, the differences between two one GB stripes and four half GB stripes might be, but not with BF2. back to the HDDs, sure 10000 rpms SATA will do some improvements to bf2. same as some 7200 rpm SATA, the difference comes with the SATA. sure 10000 rpms are more than 7200, and a GB stripe can load faster more than a 512MB stripe, but it doesn't validate it faster. if u really want to push ur loading time, even more with 2GB, here's my solution, take the pagefile and shaders from ur bf2 and operating partition, best if u have for each one HDD and have each component (BF2, shaders and pagefile) on the frist partition on another HDD. next step will be to RAID them

@COBRA-KILLER

u can do fine with the specs u have postet, even on high settings, the loading time you will experience will be similar to your old three minutes, and after joining the game you will experience some lags which can be prevented by using 2GB, loading time should reduce one and a half minutes, max 2.

He has an AMD Processor. If you fill all four memory banks with an AMD 64 proc. you run into problems.

2x1GB all the way. or 2x2 if you've got money to spare.

what kind of problems? I have a A64 3200+ with 3gb ram(2x1gb+2x512mb) and have no problems.

//EDIT
