Hi. i am about to invest in some new hardware, and wanted to ask you guys if a 256mb ATI RadeonX600 Hypermemory Graphics-card will run BF2!?? if it does, is it then bad, average or good?? Just want to be sure before i throw my money at it, and at the store they cant help me.

Thanks in advance

moved to tech

For your question, a ATI Radeon X600 will run BF2, but not in high settings. Please post your systems spec. too, I´m shure you´ll get some intresting answers.

If you have a PCI-E mainboard, look out for a Nvidia 7600GT for around 200 € or a 7900GT for around 250-300€.

i have a dell pc ( lets all laugh at me)
2.3 gig processor
1 gig of RAM
and ATI x600 256mb

and yes i can run on all high!!!!!

but there is always a but, i will only get between 20-30 FPS, at the moment i have evrything on medium bar 2 things which are on high(forgot what they were)and get 60-70 fps, which is nice!!!!!

i think its fine havent had a problem with it, the only thing i would change on my machine quickly would be another gig of RAM. apart from that the graphics card aint that bad for a cheaper card!!!!

well thats what I´ve said. 20-30 FPS with high settings isnt the way to play a game. Its below average FPS.
I think medium settings with 60-70 FPS are fine though.

It all depends on the amount you are trying to spend.   I would spend $150-$180 and a X850XT,  or $225-$250 for a 7 series Geforce.  Both will run everything on high in 1024x768.  The Geforce can do this with anti-alising on as well!  Your call,  just make sure what ever card you end up with its running at the lest of 500GPU/1000Mem GDDR3 and is 256Mb/bit

Check Newegg.com good deals there!!!

yeah i remember the first time i put everything to high i was like wow the streets are cobbled in karkand but thats all i got to look at the whole game.

i think that match went spawn in, move , lag, die , "wow look at the cobbles"

spawn in, move , lag, die , "wow look at the cobbles",press F9 (up comes fraps) "back to medium then"

well, i say that 60fps is too high to not crank up the graphics a bit more...but 20 fps is WAY to low (i know, the eye cant see  above 22fps blahblahabla...crap) if you can get your grahics to a consistent 40fps, stick with it...it should be something like lighting on med, textures on med, shadows on med, and 2xAA, that should do it if youre getting 20-30 on full. if you want a temprorary rig that will run BF2 and 2142 on med/high, go for it, but if you want something that'll last, get a 7600/7900gt.

cant wait till the warranty runs out on the old dell, out with its insides and in with the new i would love to play 2142 on high with no probs but with my current rig aint gonna happen. (warranty runs out January 1st 2007, i will class that as a late Christmas present)

also baron them spec are slightly better than mine at the mo you will be fine!!! (as long as your on medium settings)

well for a average setting your system is still ok in 1024x768, with high settings. Kepp shadwos, dynamic lights and stuff on low. Sight around 90%. I think this will work well enough for at least 40-50 pfs.

As BF2 was released I´ve runed it on my old sytem A64 3200+ 2.0Ghz, 1024MB RAM and a 5950 Ultra with those settings and around 60-70FPS. And it doesnt look bad at all and is playable more than enough.

Another gig wont help much, depending on your 6600GT. Well, the maps will load faster for shure.

minimum thing you need is an X800, also for future games, i would go for a big upgrade.

have you got PCI-E? then get something good, like the X1900 or X1800. (i sayd 1 thing about nvidia today already, thats more then enough)
